Assist Point is an adware application, that shows advertisements in various webpages you visit. These ads are not placed by a site owner but by a browser extension or a malware program on your computer. This is one of the reasons why Assist Point Ads are malicious – they change information you get from the net and replace a part of it with promotions of useless websites. Additionally most of the adware collect information about the sites you visit and try to “improve” their advertisements by using the information collected or even selling it to the marketers worldwide. This is a privacy risk.
Another danger of Assist Point Ads is the fact that such adware is not alone. In most of the cases advertisement programs are distributed together with other, even more dangerous, applications: rogue registry cleaners, fake optimizers or even trojans. Every of these programs might lead to even more malware or, at the best case, slower PC.
The best way to avoid Assist Point Ads is following these simple rules: do not install unnecessary programs, do not download software from massive download sites as every one of them tries to make bucks bundling programs together, use a custom installation procedure and read fine print carefully. This and having an antivirus should save you from PC troubles and the hassle cleaning your system from computer parasites. In fact majority of anti-malware packages would have protected your computer from the infection all along by blocking questionable bundle downloads.
If you are unlucky and got infected with Assist Point, read the instructions for its removal.
