About DigiHelp
DigiHelp works as a browser add-on that can be added to all most popular web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. It will display various advertisements, such as pop-up, pop-under, in-text or banner advertisements. A new window or tab can be opened on your web browser as well. Those advertisements appear completely randomly, from time to time, so it’s really disturbing. Not only those advertisements are annoying, but malicious as well. If you click on one of them, you will be immediately redirected to other websites that may be owned by cyber criminals. This might result in your computer getting infected or if you attempt to purchase something there, you can even get scammed and lose your hard earned money.
DigiHelp is dangerous because it is sponsored by cyber criminals. Since they are banned from all valid advertising networks, they use adware like this to create some traffic to their websites. That being said, if you have DigiHelp installed on your computer, cyber criminals can reach you right on your web browser on a daily basis. That’s why you should never click on advertisements delivered by DigiHelp and get rid of it as soon as possible.
Another unwanted attribute of DigiHelp is data collection. In order to improve those advertisements, it will collect your personal information, such as browsing history, search queries, Top visited sites or your IP and email addresses. Later on it will adjust those advertisements according to collected data, this way making them look even more relevant and interesting to you based on your browsing habits, so chances that you will click on one of those advertisements rise. And that’s the main goal of DigiHelp because the owners of it get paid for every click that you make.
Distribution Methods of DigiHelp
DigiHelp usually travels bundled with other free software. I.e. when you download and install some free tool from an unreliable website, there is a chance that DigiHelp will be installed alongside, without you even being aware of that. So to avoid this happening, try to use only well known and trustworthy websites. However, if you have no other choice, be really attentive during the installation of freebie. Always opt out for a custom or advanced install mode and make sure not to skip any steps. This way you will be able to see all available information. Reading all terms and conditions would be considered wise as well. Don’t rush, because some of the most important information can be displayed in a very tiny font. If you see that some additional software that you are not aware of is being installed alongside, do not allow this to happen, because it can be DigiHelp or any other unwanted application.
