DownSave is an adware that can be installed on users’ computers without their awareness. Once you notice that your PC is infected with DownSave, wait no longer and make sure you remove it. Do not believe in its designers’ promises. They say that this program should enhance your browsing experience by helping you to save your time and money. Actually, DownSave will not save any of your money but will display tons of annoying ads. They make profit this way – generate a traffic to the third parties websites and collect sales leads. It is a browser extension and can be added to all most popular web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. It is listed as a PUP (potentially unwanted program) and you should not keep this on your Computer. Not only DownSave displays ads, it also collects your personal information, like browsing history or search queries and adjusts their ads to you browsing habits so there is a greater chance you will click on any of the promotions.
DownSave most of the time comes bundled with other free software. That being said, you need to be very careful when installing something downloaded from the Internet for free. If you got software from a suspicious looking website, run an installation wizard very carefully. Do not skip any steps and always opt out for a custom or advanced install mode. Also read all terms and conditions in order to avoid getting this or similar adware. If it is too late and your computer is already infected with DownSave, try to scan it with a trustworthy anti-malware program like Spyhunter or malwarebytes. It will detect and uninstall threats automatically. In case you would like to get rid of DownSave manually, feel free to follow our removal guide given below. Please note, it is always recommended to perform a full system scan using antimalware tool afterwards.
Using Control Panel to remove the main DownSave components and installers
- Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
- Look for DownSave and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related. Scanning with Anti-Malware programs like Spyhunter or Stopzilla might give a good idea of what programs you should remove from there as well.
- Close Control Panel.
