Ezyphototab.com Hijacker - How to remove

Ezyphototab.com, aka Ezy Photo Tab, is a new tab browser extension by Innover Group. It replaces your home page, sends your search queries to Yahoo, and starts spying on your browsing history. On top of that, it’s not even a good photo editor; what functions it boasts of are actually delivered by unrelated websites that Ezyphototab.com sends you to. There’s just no reason to use this new tab extension.

In short about Ezyphototab.com:

Type of threat Adware,

How to remove Ezyphototab.com

If Ezyphototab.com somehow has made its home in your browser, you can get rid of it by finding its extension (Ezy Photo Tab) and deleting it on your own (instructions at the bottom). Or you can scan your computer with an anti-malware tool, like SpyHunter for PC, Combo Cleaner for Mac, or another reliable program.

Then, block notifications from Ezyphototab.com. It can use notifications to spam ads to subscribers. Luckily, any pop-ups from it can be blocked in your browser settings. Just click the menu next to “Ezyphototab.com” and choose the “Block” option. You may want to block notifications from a few other unwanted sites, too:

  • Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
  • Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
  • Edge – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
  • Firefox – open Settings, Preferences, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.

Problems with Ezyphototab.com

For one, Ezyphototab.com is supposed to help you edit photos and videos, as per the first line of its description in the Chrome Web Store:

Edit photos & videos, create logos or collages, get editing tips & more, from quick links on your new tab along with web search.

Well, this new tab is pretty terrible at editing photos. It’s so bad. Ezyphototab.com lets you crop, rotate, flip photos, as well as apply one of six way-too-intense filters. That’s it, that’s all there is. Though I can say that the editing process is pretty smooth.

The editing tools include a background remover, a collage maker, and a video editor open third-party sites: Clippingmagic.com, Kapwing.com, Renderforest.com, etc. These sites work, though they’re not all hassle-free. Still, they’re completely independent of Ezyphototab.com. They’re basically just random sites that Ezyphototab.com points to. You could save them in your bookmarks and that would be just as good.

Ezyphototab.com includes a pop-up photo editor.

Ezyphototab.com taking over your new tab page is completely unnecessary to deliver the photo-editing feature or the links to the other sites. It could easily be an extension pop-up. After all, the photo-editing card is already a pop-up. The only reason why Ezy Photo Tab replaced your home and new tab page is to get you to use the search box that it provides so that you see more search ads.

This search box opens Yahoo search results. I guess that Ezyphototab.com is either in an affiliate program with Oath (Yahoo’s owner) to include the search engine in their extension for a bit of money, or they share the ad revenue. A lot of browser hijackers are Yahoo redirects.

Oh, also, Ezyphototab.com reads your browsing history and uses it to serve relevant advertising.

How Ezy Photo Tab spreads

Ezyphototab.com may get installed by freeware bundlers that get paid per install of each optional add-on. In 2016, Google came out with an investigation that found that unwanted software bundling is very prevalent. Installers downloaded from unreliable sites may be infected with all kinds of browser hijackers.

Also, Ezyphototab.com is advertised online as a free photo editor and an online photo editor. Despite the fact that, like I said earlier, it barely has an editor and instead links third-party sites for that. Ezyphototab.com is just trying to unnecessarily insert itself between users and online pic editors and cash in.

If you have an adware infection or visit dubious and illegal sites a lot, you’re in more danger to encounter a hijacker like Ezy Photo Tab, Manuals Aid, Precious Bible, etc.
