Fastquicksearch.com is a search engine by Ask. It works, although it does lack most features that should be standard. And while Fastquicksearch.com delivers accurate search results, the ads it shows are problematic. These ads are deceptive and lead people to download junkware. The cause of redirects to Fastquicksearch.com is most likely a malicious browser add-on that was recently installed or updated. The malicious add-on needs to be removed. That should be enough to get rid of the ads for Fastquicksearch.com and other unwanted sites.

Is Fastquicksearch.com dangerous?
I first came across Fastquicksearch.com while I was looking into an adware infection in the form of a browser add-on. Fastquicksearch.com was one of the sites that advertised this browser hijacker.
As you can see in the illustration for this post, Fastquicksearch.com advertises many browser hijackers, including MySocialShortcut, MyFormsFinder, FileConvertOnline, QuickPDFMerger, Search Tab, and many others. Unsurprisingly, many of the hijackers that Fastquicksearch.com promotes were released by an Ask company (Myway) and so, they’re related to Fastquicksearch.com.
The browser hijackers are pretty annoying. Once installed, they change your browser behavior in order to control how you search the internet. They also use notifications to show pop-up ads on your screen. Oh, and they read your browsing history. They are junkware with no redeeming qualities. The fact that Fastquicksearch.com promotes them is suspicious, however, there’s no big danger here. Adware can lead to more serious malware but on its own, it’s just annoying.
How Fastquicksearch.com works
By looking at the estimations about Fastquicksearch.com by web analytics tools, we can see that Fastquicksearch.com promotes and is promoted by various other search engines, such as Web-explore.com, Hsmartsearching.net, Startpage.com, Izito.ws, and others. There are dozens of sites similar to Fastquicksearch.com that also show misleading ads.
Here’s how it works:
- You search for something on the internet. Let’s say you want to download Zoom, so your search query is “Zoom”.
- You land on a results page. It has a few ads above the search results.
- Two of the ads say “Download Zoom”, however, clicking on them leads to unrelated sites: sites for installing various browser add-ons. One of the ads opens another results page for a related query, such as “Zoom for calls”. The page is filled with advertising links.
- Some of the ads link again to other search sites.
Even though Fastquicksearch.com does show genuine search results in between all the ads, it’s not worth using. The too-many ads waste your screen space and your time. Besides, ads should be relevant. Google ads are usually relevant. Fastquicksearch.com’s aren’t.
Why is this happening?
All this mess with deceptive ads and redirects is because the companies behind these sites are trying to earn money from advertising. They’re doing it not by providing value but by redirecting visitors through ads and then showing them even more ads. That is why Fastquicksearch.com might advertise to you the search results of Izito, Kensaq, of Zapmeta, for a search query that’s slightly different than yours. These sites make money off of the ads they show to you, they just need to get you to visit them.
If you noticed that your browser is showing way too many ads and that clicking on search results often just leads to more search results on Fastquicksearch.com and other sites, then you most likely have an adware infection. It is probably a bad browser add-on that injects ads into your webpages. They’re easy enough to delete, once you find out which add-on is responsible.
Some add-ons inject ads into your Google.com, Bing.com and other search results. It can be difficult to realize that the ads are injected by an add-on on your browser. Sometimes it’s noticeable by how the site reloads shortly after loading.
Other add-ons change your browser settings so that your default search engine is one of these unwanted search sites, like Index.about.com or Top10answers.com. This sometimes also changes your home page, though not always.
Other injected ads include banners on online stores and download links that open unrelated software downloads.
How to stop Fastquicksearch.com ads
Scan your computer with an anti-malware program, such as Combo Cleaner for macOS, Spyhunter for Windows, and others to look for the most obvious malware and potentially unwanted programs. Remove them if any are found.
But anti-malware apps don’t always detect browser hijackers. If you’re still having problems with your browser redirecting to Fastquicksearch.com, go to the settings page for extensions and see what you have installed. If you see some items that you didn’t install yourself, remove them. Detailed instructions can be found below.
If an add-on refuses to be removed, check this post – “Installed by enterprise policy” (fake).
If you trust all of your add-ons, then just disable all of them for now. You can enable them again later. If ads for Fastquicksearch.com disappear, then it was one of your add-ons that was responsible. Sometimes add-ons are updated to add such “features” in order to get them to start making money. Enable your add-ons one-by-one and keep testing your searches. Keep in mind that some ad-injecting add-ons inject ads randomly (for example, only 9% of the time), so keep testing.
If unwanted browser notifications from Fastquicksearch.com or any other site are tormenting you, then read this post – How to disable Web Push Notifications.
