About Finance Alert
Finance Alert works as a browser add-on that can be added to all most popular web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. It is listed as an adware because it displays various advertisements on your web browsers. They can be displayed in all kinds of forms, such as contextual, pop-up, pop-under, in-text or banner advertisements. Most of the time they appear on e-commerce websites, such as eBay or Amazon and offer you to purchase some particular goods at a very appealing price rate. Even though those advertisements look really tempting, you should not believe that as it’s just a trick to win your attention and make you click on them.
Finance Alert works as a middleman between you and advertisers. It is an advertising network mostly used by cyber criminals, such as hackers and scammers. Since they are blocked from all valid advertisement networks they use adware as Finance Alert to promote their webpages. That’s why you should not click on those advertisements and that’s why we list this application as malicious. If you do click on an advertisement displayed by Finance Alert you will be immediately redirected to other website that might be owned by cyber criminals and this can lead to your computer getting infected or if you attempt to purchase something there you can get scammed and lose your money.
The main goal of Finance Alert is to make you click on those advertisements. They are usually labeled with a slogan “Ads by Finance Alert” or “Brought to you by Finance Alert”. The owners of this application get paid for every click you make. That’s why Finance Alert is collecting your personal information – browsing history, search queries, Top visited sites, IP and email addresses and even your geographic location. The third parties adjust their advertisements according to the collected data so they look even more relevant and attractive to you based on your interests and browsing habits and chances that you will click on one of those advertisements rise.
Distribution Methods of Finance Alert
You already know that this application is distributed bundled with other freebies. I.e. when you download and install some free tool from a website that looks suspicious, there is a chance that Finance Alert will be downloaded and installed alongside, without you even being aware of that. To avoid this happening, you should stay away from downloading software from unreliable sources. However, if you have no other option, be really attentive during the installation of freebies. Opt out for a custom or advanced install mode and do not skip any steps (don’t just click “next” and “agree” buttons all the time without reading the whole information first). Reading terms and conditions would be wise as well. If you see that some additional software that you are not aware of is being installed alongside – do not allow this installation to be completed as this can be Finance Alert or any other malware.
