Findwebnow Adware is a malicious program that can be installed to random computers bundled together with other software that users are usually downloading from the Internet for free. The application is added to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. The program shows users various ads with special offers and coupons in order to promote some websites and products. It also causes redirections that have the same aim: to increase traffic to the advertised sites.
Although some users may find it useful to see various promotions, usually people get very annoyed by such pop ups. The purpose of Findwebnow Adware is to redirect thousands of users to specific websites using affiliate links. The program also tends to change your homepage and default search provider to Findwebnow.com which is done without asking users’ permission. It also tries to collect information about users’ habits so it could send it to the remote server and use it in future for marketing purposes.
You should be very careful when installing anything to your computer in order to avoid such programs getting to your system. Always be attentive in every installation step and refuse installing any additional programs that you are not familiar with. This way you will protect your system from adding unwanted stuff.
Remove Findwebnow Adware as soon as you detect it on your computer. Go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome and remove it from there. If you had redirecting issues, you might need to reset your home page and search engine to the one you used before:
On Internet explorer:
- Click arrow on the right of search box;
- Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search providers, on ie7 click change search defaults;
- Remove Findwebnow from the list.
On Firefox :
- Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page;
- Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
- Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
- Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
- Search for ‘browser.newtab.url’. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.
On Google Chrome:
- Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar;
- Select Settings;
- Select Basics ->Manage Search engines;
- Remove unnecessary search engines from list;
- Go back to settings. On Startup choose open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).
Please note, it is very important to scan your computer with a reliable antimalware program after Findwebnow Adware is removed as it might be your system got infected with viruses while having it.
