Flight Tab Pro is a web browser extension made by Innover Group and, once installed, it replaces your new tab page and puts there a search bar that takes you to Yahoo.com. It is just another hijacker, an adware virus made to take advantage of users by spamming them with unwanted ads. Flight Tab Pro targets people from the USA and is advertised on alternative search engines, clickbait sites, and flight and travel websites.

Flight Tab Pro Newtab virus
Flight Tab Pro installs as a browser extension with these permissions:
- read and change your data on flighttabpro.com,
- replace the page you see when opening a new tab,
- read your browsing history.
Flighttabpro.com has a new tab page that includes a search box in the middle of the page, a flight tracking pop-up, and links to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Wikipedia. The search bar opens Yahoo.com, no surprise there.
From these features, we can see that Flight Tab Pro is a traditional Newtab virus. These programs hijack browsers to direct people to related sites so that they can raise their ad revenue. Whatever the front features are – checking flight status, converting files, editing your photos – they’re just an excuse to release a new extension. Innover has a few, including Manuals Aid, Maps Assist, Ezy Photo Tab, and a ton of others. The “features” are super limited, the equivalent of a bookmark, and do not merit a browser extension.
How the adware got installed
Flight Tab Pro is advertised online. You can encounter its ads on:
- legitimate flight status checker sites,
- clickbait sites – the ones that you find at the bottom of many legitimate sites,
- on alternative search engines, like Info.com and Searchincognito.com, which are symptoms of other adware infections.
These ads are quite deceptive. Flighttabpro.com at first looks like a real flight tracking site, but if you try to use it, it tries to get you to install a browser extension called Flight Tab Pro. It’s especially easy to fall for it on Firefox, but nearly fifteen thousand people got it on their Chrome, too.
In addition, Flighttabpro.com asks visitors to allow its notifications, then uses that to spam unwanted pop-up ads and make even more ad-money.
How to remove Flight Tab Pro
To deal with the Flight Tab Pro adware, there are a few things to do:
- uninstall the extension,
- block the notifications,
- check your computer for adware and remove it if any is found.
First, if you have sync turned on in your browser, you might need to temporarily disable it or else Flight Tab Pro will get reinstalled. Next, simply right-click Flight Tab Pro’s icon in your browser’s UI or open the settings and go to the Extensions section. There, choose to remove all the extensions that you want to get rid of.
If you can’t find Flight Tab Pro in your extensions list but you know that it’s installed, that’s a bit more complicated. You may be able to delete the local files of the extension after looking up files named by its number, which you can see by turning on the Developer mode switch in the Extensions screen. Check this How-To Geek article for more.
Manually deleting files is a bit complicated and risky, so using automatic tools is sometimes a better option. Programs like Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macoS, Malwarebytes, and others can find malicious browser extensions and most adware infections, so it’s recommended to scan your machine just in case.
But removing Flight Tab Pro won’t stop its pop-up spam. To block the ads by Flighttabpro.com, you need to find it in the list of sites that can send you web push notifications, open the menu next to it, and choose the “Block” option. Here’s how you can open the notifications settings:
- Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
- Edge – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Firefox – open Settings, Preferences, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.
