Freecause Virus is an adware application that gets installed to any of Internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Usually a computer user does not know about the toolbar being added until she opens her browser window. If you have Freecause Virus you will see search.freecause.com instead of a usual home page. Although this search page uses Yahoo search engine it does not work the same way as the original one because the latter gets paid for the searches. If you think this is an ordinary toolbar and will try to remove it from Control Panel, you will find it missing in Add and Remove Programs section.
Freecause Virus can get inside your computer bundled with other software. In many cases it is installed because a computer user does not notice a checkbox marked by default for this additional feature. It is one of the most common legal ways of distributing toolbars like this although not a fair one. Some computer users say they did not install anything and have Freecause Virus. In such a case it might be that the toolbar has been added by a malware, typically Trojan horse.
Visible Freecause Virus infection signs are the modifications of search bar, URL bar searches and the home page. Just like other this type programs it might also collect such data as your Internet browsing behavior, credit card details, login and passwords or any other personal information. These records are sent to a remote server and can be used for any purposes, e.g. for displaying targeted advertisements.
Since Freecause Virus does not have a usual uninstall wizard, it cannot be found nor removed from Control Panel Add and Remove Programs area or the Startup. Uninstalling and reinstalling of an infected browser will not help as well, especially if the toolbar was brought in by a malware. To permanently remove Freecause Virus and all other infections related to its installation it is recommended to do a full system scan using anti-malware programs. Hitman Pro and spyhunter are capable of removing Freecause Virus automatically. Home page and search engine should be replaced with the original ones automatically. If they were not restored after the threads were removed, reset them manually:
On IE:
- Click arrow on the right of search box;
