Freshaudio.net seems like a very simple webpage, but its purpose is quite malicious. Freshaudio.net is part of a network of adware sites that seek to aggressively push ads to people who do not want to see them.

Some of these adware sites have impossible names, like Renseddowntinti.info, others are more ordinary, like Fastnewstream.com. There are very many of these sites, and they’re all incredibly similar, using the exact same tactics. They all try to get the visitor to push, click, or otherwise press the “Allow” button, which enables them to push annoying pop-up ads.
How Freshaudio.net ads start
The “press Allow” sites use advertising to promote themselves. PopAds, PopCash, exoClick — Freshaudio.net is advertised by the networks that also utilize pop-ups. The ads are displayed on both shady and professional sites.
Adware viruses also promote Freshaudio.net, and this is a bigger reason to be concerned. Adware viruses promote not just other adware, but also malware, scams, other dangerous sites. The most aggressive adware can even open new tabs in your browser and display pop-ups right on your desktop. A virus like that is a serious security risk and should be removed ASAP.
Once you’re on Freshaudio.net, the “Press Allow” site shows a notification alert and displays a message, most likely:
Press Allow, for song download
Some sites just refuse to allow you to do anything until you do press the Allow button. If a website switches your browser into full-screen mode, spams alerts faster than you can close them, and instructs you to press buttons, input your info, or call some phone number, you can be certain that this is a malicious website and that the safest thing to do is to close it.
After the Allow button is pressed, Freshaudio.net forwards you to a promoted page, which might be another “Press Allow” site or some advertised product. If you’re ever directed to Freshaudio.net again, it will immediately forward you to a promoted site.
What Freshaudio.net advertises
Not everyone knows how to remove the ads, but they should not be allowed to continue. Some of the ads are genuinely dangerous.
Malicious software and websites
Malware is not the most common type of “product” that Freshaudio.net advertises, but it’s still far too much.
Some of the sites that Freshaudio.net forwards you to are the fake security warnings. These usually promote fake antivirus programs, but can also be part of a tech support scam. Some look like this, telling people that their computer has viruses. Others are more like this, spoofing a Microsoft site and pushing a fake antivirus program. Tech support scams also try to convince you that your device has viruses and tell you to call a number to “unblock your Windows”. Nearly everyone is vulnerable to these scams, and people still lose money to them.
Worse still are the serious computer viruses, like ransomware and trojans. Freshaudio.net might open a site that advertises something like this, a legitimate-looking product that, without anyone’s knowledge, was installing a trojan or spyware. The most dangerous viruses are also the ones that disguise themselves well.
Restricted topics
Luckily, most ads shown by Freshaudio.net are less immediately dangerous, though they’re still going to be contentious. Gambling and health products (drugs and supplements) are the types of ads that Freshaudio.net pushes most of the time. Not coincidentally, these topics are either banned or heavily restricted by mainstream advertising networks.
There are good reasons for these restrictions. Some drugs sellers and gambling companies have engaged in serious fraud. This involved stolen credit cards being used, people being cheated out of their money, false advertising, disinformation. In short, being shown ads from these niches puts you at a greater risk of becoming the victim of scammers and criminals. However, Freshaudio.net is not afraid to step up and display these ads with, it seems, no concern for the safety of the users.
How to stop Freshaudio.net ads
The good news is that the pop-up ads can be disabled easily: you just need to block notifications from Freshaudio.net (and other adware sites) and they won’t be able to push any more ads. The settings for each browser a little bit different, and this guide has detailed instructions for each one.
If you suspect that an adware virus has infected your device, make sure to scan it with a good-quality antivirus program, for example, Spyhunter.
