FunMoods Toolbar - How to remove

FunMoods Toolbar

FunMoods toolbar is a browser extension. It is installed together with other software, for example, some PDF creator, video grabber and other programs that claim to be free and try to gain money from secondary products bundled with the main application. FunMoods toolbar replaces default search provider with its own. The “official” version of the changes made is for displaying fun animations. The reality is a bit different – it blends paid and free advertisements in search results so it will gain more advertising income from users unable to distinguish between these two.

Some may say that it’s just a toolbar and we shouldn’t categorize it as an unwanted program. However, FunMoods uses aggressive techniques and changes you search results subsequently not everyone is happy about this. There is no surprise that hundreds of computer users get annoyed by search results being hijacked so we are here to provide them with tips how to get rid of it.

To remove Funmoods redirects, you will have both to remove the toolbar, reset search provider and change your home page after this infection. You might want to use some reputable antispyware program, for example, Spybot S&D, spyhunter and run a full system scan with it.

  1. I downloaded Spyhunter it did not find the funmoods files. Maleware bytes however did. Also if you read the reviews of Spyhunter you will see it is not updated as frequently as most and takes huge system resources to run.

I’m not affiliated in any way with any software companies, but I suspect some of these sites are.

  2. John: there are more than one version of funmoods. Spyhunter is better than mbam against malware that actively prevent anti malware programs due to good automated suspected process killer In the installer. The generic detection rules are quite good too. I was surprised myself once started testing it against malware. Ill try to notify them about your version of funmoods. Do you know which software was it bundled with?

  3. Everything is done but when I click fix threads it says that i have to have purchased it and I did not buy it. There was nothing on your site saying that it we had to buy it. I am not just worried about the funmoods i am worried about the other Threats. It says I have 60. Are they major? or can I just ignore it? What was the point of installing this Spy Hunter4 when at the end you just went and took out the toolbar. There was no point!

  4. Dania: Cookie threats are relatively harmless, and can be left. If there are something more (before cookies), then these should be removed at once. If you see some sort of programs, that are listed bellow (lower danger level), then it is some sort of Potentially Unwanted Applications, that distribute such programs like FunMoods and should be removed too. Due to significant issues with software bundles (and even trojans), I recommend always scanning with anti-malware programs to confirm if there are no other threats and try to determine the origin of toolbar installation.
Do not forget to remove FunMoods from search providers.

  5. @John
John, I think your right about a certain affiliation – its funny how when you do a search to remove funmoods the only prog advertised to remove it seems to be SpyHunter! hmmmmm

  6. MBAM and Spybot S&D are both free and powerful. They remove this sucker. Stick with them. Use both if you like. And also Super Anti-Spyware. I’ve never heard of Spyhunter and I do a lot of work in this field.

  7. OK, so I did everything in the Firefox section but the last option wouldn’t let me reset it so I’m still stuck with the damn thing when I open a new tab…
Any tips for getting rid of it in Chrome also?

  8. What’s the use of recommending a free spyware program if you have to pay to remove the spyware?
