GetFormsHere is a browser add-on (a small application that changes your browser’s behavior) for finding free printable forms. It might be practical, if it didn’t also change your browser a bit too much. GetFormsHere is made by Mindspark so, naturally, it promotes MyWay.com and Ask.com – both also by Mindspark. GetFormsHere is a completely unnecessary extension and it only serves to show you more ads.

How GetFormsHere gets installed
Misleading ads
Sometimes, unwanted browser extensions like GetFormsHere are installed by people who feel like they have to.
When a website requires you to install an extension, that’s usually a bad sign. Take a look at these pop-ups that were used to force people to install unwanted add-ons. Because of such behavior, Chrome disabled inline installation.
But the fraudsters didn’t go away, they just innovated. Want to see your internet speed? Install an extension. What to see the location of your package? Install an extension. This is how some hijackers force people to install them. Extensions are not a one-time thing. Once you install one, it’s there until you remove it. So, if you’re not using an extension, you should disable or delete it.
Search result ads
Ads in search results sometimes promote browser hijackers. Do you see sites like Zapmeta.com and Izito.com in your search results? Then this might be relevant to you. GetFormsHere looks like it gets traffic from SearchGG hijackers, such as Qxsearch.com. These hijackers are similar to GetFormsHere, so they should be competing, but I’ve noticed that they still advertise each other.
I don’t want to alarm you for no reason, but it’s possible that you already had a hijacker on your browser before GetFormsHere. If a few hijacked get installed one after another, that can have interesting results. The extensions override each other’s effects like layers, so removing one uncovers another. You may need to reviews all of your extensions carefully.
Bundling
Downloading free commercial programs is always risky. Many distributors like to stuff the installers full of toolbars, new tabs, and other optional offers (often the offers are by Mindspark). And they hide them sometimes, making it easy for you to miss these offers. If you miss them, you can’t deselect the checkboxes that agree to install them. And you may end up with GetFormsHere, Search Extension by Ask, and other unwanted hijackers in your browser.
The free programs that carry the offers are called bundlers and antivirus programs sometimes detect them as PUPs (potentially unwanted programs). It’s up to you to decide if you trust the program. But if it installed GetFormsHere against your will, consider finding safer sites to download software from.
Problems with GetFormsHere
Free forms can be pretty useful and Mindspark has made a whole website that hosts links to a ton of different forms. But that doesn’t really make up for GetFormsHere’s issues:
- it reads your browsing history and your search queries,
- it allows that information to be used for behavioral ads,
- the new tab page (hp.myway.com/getformshere/ttab02/index.html) is outdated, unpleasant, and completely unnecessary,
- GetFormsHere tries to get you to install Ask extension, which hijacks your address bar and changes your default search engine.
Combine these problems with the fact that, sometimes, people who got GetFormsHere did not want to install it.
This is repeated in other Mindspark’s extensions: MyFormsFinder, FormFetcherPro, GetFormsOnline, and SearchFormsOnline: quality is secondary to just putting a link to MyWay.com right in the middle of your browser and getting you to see all those search ads.
