GoMovies allows for streaming movies and TV shows for free. It’s a pirating site. There are quite a few different versions of GoMovies, including Gomovies.vet, Gomovies-online.me, Gomoviesfree.sc, Gomovies.digital, and others.
You can use GoMovies for free, but it shows a lot of advertisements. Some of these ads are a bit controversial: they lead to sites that promote unwanted software, show adult content, and even try to scam visitors. Be careful while on GoMovies.

Problems with GoMovies
Potentially unsafe ads
GoMovies is a Putlocker site that shows excessive ads. It has a lot of ads, some of which open randomly when clicking on elements on the webpage. This does make GoMovies a little difficult to use.
The ads are the usual – casinos, VPNs, payday loans, online stores, but also get-rich-quick scams, notification spammers (Alltopposts.com), potentially unwanted programs (MACClean Booster, WebSecurerr), etc. These ads are not inherently dangerous and they don’t automatically infect your computer with malware. But some of them do lead to unsafe sites, including scams.
Stay safe by not interacting with any of the ads that look suspicious at all. Recognize scams and you should be safe.
But if you do fall for any of the scams, whether it’s a risk-free crypto trading platform, a false “You have viruses” alert, or an offer to stream HD videos for free, then you may be in trouble. Do not reveal your payment info or personal details to these sites, because that could cause problems later. Scammers use people’s information to charge them money, often starting with small amounts and then going bigger.
Legality
GoMovies is a streaming site and it does allow you to watch some movies and TV shows for free that are not legitimately available. That is to say, it’s a pirating site.
Well, at least in spirit. Technically, GoMovies says that it’s not illegal because it doesn’t save any copyrighted material; it only links to other sites that may have some copyrighted videos. So, GoMovies is not responsible for what it streams.
Some of the GoMovies sites say this, as well. That you will get in trouble if you use them to download any copyrighted material.
It’s up to you whether you’re okay with this. I’ve seen people say that it’s not illegal to stream videos as long as you don’t save them, but I’m not a lawyer. Besides, the rules are different in each country and even state.
I think that if you use sites like GoMovies, it’s only realistic to acknowledge that this is pirating. Luckily, streaming is far less risky than torrenting copyrighted videos.
Malicious browser extensions
A couple of years ago, a browser extension called GoMovies or EasyMovies Search was called out for hijacking users’ searches. It’s been removed from web stores since, but it used to have a couple hundred thousand users. Besides hijacking searches, it was also able to inject ads and see everything that its users did online.
Currently, a few GoMovies “helper” extensions exist, but they have very few users. Be careful of browser add-ons and only install those that you trust. Extensions can very easily cause harm, so it’s best to limit how many of them are installed.
How to remove GoMovies ads
Disable notifications from GoMovies
Some of the GoMovies sites deliver ads through notifications.
To block these pop-ups, click on the settings button on one of them. Or, instead, you could open the settings in your browser:
- Chrome – open Settings, scroll down to Site settings (under Privacy and security), click on Notifications.
- Edge (Chromium) – open Settings, click Site Permissions, Notifications.
- Firefox – open Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.
- Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
Remove malware as needed
If you installed some shady stuff thanks to GoMovies’s ads, you may want to remove it. If you’re unsure, you could use an anti-malware app like Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, and others. If some suspicious files or apps are found on your device, remove them.
