Ievbz.com is a browser hijacker that causes redirects in your browser when you are making a search on Google. The program gets access to random computer systems using bundling method. Basically, it is added to some free applications and installed at the same time when you are installing this freeware. Ievbz.com is considered to be a potentially unwanted program because of the techniques it uses to access computers.
The purpose of this program is to generate traffic to a bunch of websites that end in Ievbz.com, for example, facebook.ievbz.com, youtube.ievbz.com, bing.ievbz.com and so on. The program also collects information about users’ browsing habits. This information is used by third parties which later display various advertisements and seek to make users click on specific links. The danger of this is that you can easily click on some malicious links and get your system infected. Also the information about your online activity can lead to revealing your usernames and passwords.
Once you are redirected to one of the Ievbz.com website, you will be asked to take a survey which will require entering you phone number and paying 5 dollars weekly fee for the services. This way the creators of this hijacker are also collecting money from the users. You definitely don’t need this program on your computer and you should remove it as soon as possible.
If you want to remove Ievbz.com virus go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. It is important that you remove all other programs installed with the hijacker, as some of them might redownload or reset back browser settings. - Click arrow on the right of search box.
- Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search Providers, on IE7 click Change Search Defaults.
- Remove Ievbz.com from the list.
On Firefox :
- Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page.
- Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
- Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
- Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
- Search for “browser.newtab.url”. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.
On Google Chrome:
- Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar.
- Select Settings.
- Select Basics ->Manage Search engines.
- Remove unnecessary search engines from list.
- Go back to Settings. On Startup choose Open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).
