How iLivid infects computers
It changes the browser
If you’re infected with iLivid, you may experience your homepage, default search engine, and new tab being changed in an unexpected way. When you open your browser, a site like ilividlive.com might appear. Your search results might look different. Some links might redirect to unexpected destinations. New browser tabs might open on their own.
It’s bundled with other programs
iLivid is connected to Searchnu.com, Search-results.com, and Torchbrowser.com, which can be seen in the picture below.
iLivid is a download manager. It used to be promoted on iLivid.com, but then it was replaced with the Torch browser. Torch browser has similar features to iLivid, including a search manager and a video player. It also has similar malware problems. Its installer is considered to be dangerous by many reputable anti-malware programs.
Nowadays, the iLivid download manager can be found on freeware sites and file sharing sites. Some of these sites wrap the iLivid installer with additional crapware, so it’s best to avoid them (unless you want to risk having unwanted software installed on your device).
Bundlers try to get you to agree to install various optional offers, such as browser hijackers that change your search settings. Even if you decline all the offers during setup, there’s no guarantee that your choices will be respected.
Why iLivid is unwanted?
It hijacks your browser
Just like Torchbrowser, iLivid is detected by many antivirus scanners – Virustotal.com. It’s labeled Adware, Toolbar, SearchSuite, Malicious, and PUP (potentially unwanted program).
These detections are because iLivid tries to install browser hijackers that take over your web browser’s settings:
- they cause inferior search engines to be set as the default search engines,
- they advertise risky and potentially malicious sites,
- they replace your new tab page and hide your old setup,
- they collect your usage data and could expose your private information.
It collects browsing information
When iLivid installs a hijacker, it threatens your privacy. It collects information like the user’s IP, most visited websites, search history, advertisement clicks, and information about the software and hardware they are using. This information can be sold to third parties, so you don’t really know where it will end up – that’s very dangerous. It could also be used to help advertisers deliver interest-based content.
Adware installed by iLivid can have other effects, too. Your computer might run slower because new browser extensions are working in the background or new tabs are opened in your browser. Websites take longer to open because of the redirects. Additional malicious software can be downloaded on your computer without even warning you.
Removing ILivid from your computer
In the case that iLivid was installed, you have to clean your programs and browser extensions.
You need to remove the iLivid virus and other malicious programs at the same time. People complain that iLivid’s files are undeletable or that they come back after being deleted. This means that you need to be swift in deleting all the components at once so that the iLivid virus can’t recover.
Uninstall iLivid normally and check your computer for files and folders that iLivid may have left behind. Use safe mode and an antivirus program, such as Spyhunter, to assist you.
iLivid adds some browser add-ons that you can disable or remove. If removal doesn’t work because your browser is managed, check this article – Installed by Enterprise Policy.

Ilivid is worse than described above as it overwrites a number of windows dll files – in particular it overwrites msvcr80.dll and msvcr100.dll with 32 bit executeables – which means that if you are running 64 bit windows apps that use the ms visual c++ library – all those 64 bit apps will fail to launch. This in particular affects Lightroom (adobe) as well as Steam installed games.

I am very disappointed that in downloading what I thought was a video tool for facebook took away everything that had been set up for our internet browser. How dare you do this??!! Nobody will want to use your stuff!! STOP IT!!
Iris: we are not related to Ilivid. The short answer is: they do it for money.
After downloading and installing a couple of (quite useful) freeware from CNET, I found that the iLivid Download popup kept appearing whenever I accessed my AOL Mail account, my Twitter acct and my Pinterest acct. I searched my computer for “ilivid” and found nothing to uninstall. Finally, I went through all the programs which my Revo free uninstaller turned up. In there, I found something called “Iminent.” I goodled Iminent and found it to be spyware…so I uninstalled IT! Guess what. No more iLived. Iminent is apparently iLivid. Problem solved quickly and simply…once I determined what the problem actually was.
I want off this ilivid site …NOW
How do you uninstall this. I just wanted to watch a movie and now it’s overwriting google on my laptop
Every time I opened my chrome browser, ilivid tabs extension gets enabled at startup(even after removal). Home pages, search engines also got modified for IE, firefox, chrome browsers.
Just now found a simple way to remove this ilivid thing. It’s disguised in controlpanel, under search results toolbar xxxx name.
Open control panel -> search resutls toolbar .. -> uninstall. This has uninstalled this infamous troubleware. Now its peaceful as before..
