Internet Security Pro 2013 is another version of a rogue antivirus that belongs to the same family as Internet Security or Internet Security 2012. As many other fake programs, it is programmed to imitate the work of legitimate software. Due to this reason Internet Security Pro 2013 design is made to look very professional. One might take it easily for a genuine antivirus tool. Yet it is nothing more than a scam, does not have any virus database and is not capable of detecting or removing any infections.
Internet Security Pro 2013 is distributed using Trojans. As soon as it is injected into the system, the virus makes modifications in order to be launched every time a computer is turned on. As many other rogue antivirus, it starts scanning system for infections straight away. After the imitated scan is completed, Internet Security Pro 2013 displays its results having thousands of infections. The aim of this scam is to make you think your computer is badly damaged and convince to pay money for a full version of the program. Such generic names of parasites like W32.Blaster.Worm, Email-Worm.Brontok, W32/Child-Porn.PROXY/Server, Mal/Generic-A, various TrojanDownloader versions are used in the warning messages. Please note that none of the threats, except the TrojanDownloader which brought in Internet Security Pro 2013 in the first place, are present in your computer.
Do not purchase a full version of the program and if you already did, contact your credit card bank as soon as possible. Remember that you gave your bank information to cyber criminals therefore it is very important to ensure it will not be used for any illegal actions. You should also not postpone removing of Internet Security Pro 2013 from your computer because it might let other malware to be brought into your system. Usually rogue antivirus like the latter block legitimate antispyware tools. It might also hinder your Internet connection as well as other applications in order to ensure you will not download legitimate antivirus from the net.
For Internet Security Pro 2013 to be removed from the system completely follow the instructions below:
- Stop Internet Security Pro 2013 processes (without doing it you will not be able to launch any anti-malware program or download it from Internet). Try the following:
- Press Start->Run. Enter taskkill /F /IM indefender.exe in the field and press enter. Repeat this step several times, till malware window closes. (depending on the version of a malware, you might also need to use taskkill /F /IM amsecure.exe or taskkill /F /IM isecurity.exe)
- Another way to stop malware processes is by pressing ctrl+shift+esc. The command will open task explorer. Normally the latter should be killed by Internet Security malware. However, if you are quick enough to press “End program” button while your PC is busy, you can kill malware process too. Please note that this method is not the most reliable one.
- Scan your PC using more than one anti-malware program in order to identify infected files, for example Spyhunter or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. These are paid programs therefore for removing the threat you will have to purchase them. You may also try a manual removal without purchasing a program since it gives the location of the infection but the latter method is recommended only if you have enough knowledge about computers not to delete important system files.
- Remove Malware startup entry by launching msconfig and unchecking the malware process from startup list.
