Leaked-video.live shows unwanted ads
Leaked-video.live is a website that shows advertisements in browsers. Even when Leaked-video.live is not open, it can still force the browser to show ads.
It does this with the help of notifications – a feature that allows browsers to receive messages from websites. Websites can ask you to allow them to send you notifications and you can opt in if you want.
Unfortunately, Leaked-video.live uses notifications to show advertisements. While it shows some safe adsm it also allows iffy advertisers to promote dubious sites and products, such as get-rich-quick schemes and suspicious diet supplements. These sorts of ads are potentially harmful and thus they get rejected from mainstream sites and advertising networks. However, Leaked-video.live allows them.
It’s not a coincidence that Leaked-video.live shows deceptive ads. Advertisers of harmful or controversial content use malicious advertising to spread their message. For instance, the ILikeAd company used malware to hijack Facebook accounts to show ads.
While Leaked-video.live is not as bad as actual malware, it can potentially cause an infection. Among the sites that it promotes, some might lead to tech support scams (Fastsupport) and other malicious sites. Therefore, it’s important to know how to avoid notification-hijacking, ad-spamming sites.
How Leaked-video.live infiltrates web browsers
Leaked-video.live is advertised online
Leaked-video.live is advertised online. It’s promoted by new tab pop-up ads, by sites that show this sort of ad:
- video streaming sites, including sports and movie pirating sits and adult sites,
- video converter sites and other file download sites,
- old, small sites that are infected with malicious redirects.
When Leaked-video.live shows up, it might show a loading bar, a robot check, an age check, etc. It shows a generic page that might look like a real warning from the site that you were just browsing.
But Leaked-video.live is not directly related to the sites that advertise it. All it wants visitors to do is click the “Allow” button on its notification prompt.
How to avoid notification hijackers
Do not allow notifications from unfamiliar sites. If a site asks you to allow its notifications because it apparently needs them for whatever reason, don’t believe it. It’s just trying to show you ad spam.
In fact, you can hide notification prompts on all sites by changing a setting in your browser.
You can also catch and block at least some notification hijackers by using malicious site blockers, ad blockers, and anti-malware programs. Anti-malware apps like Spyhunter for Mac, Combo Cleaner for macOS, Spyhunter for Windows, etc. can also help you avoid more serious malware.
