LiveRadioSweeper tries to appeal to music lovers by offering quick access to internet radio right in your browser – but it’s actually just a browser hijacker pushing the MyWay search engine. More than half of the antivirus engines on VirusTotal detect it as some kind of malware, mostly – adware. Though LiveRadioSweeper is not immediately dangerous or harmful, it’s really only concerned with tracking you and advertising to you, so it’s best removed from your browser.

Is LiveRadioSweeper good to use?
LiveRadioSweeper uses TuneIn to deliver its radio functionality. TuneIn is a sports-oriented radio, music, games broadcast, and podcast service. It has a subscription fee, but it offers all the radio stations and podcasts for free. LiveRadioSweeper is passing those free services on through its new tab extension and offering nothing in addition.
LiveRadioSweeper also has a few links to other music-related websites, including Vevo, Pandora, iHeartRadio, MetroLyrics, and others. But that’s all that they are – links. You can’t customize them or anything. And they’re kind of hidden in menus, so you may not even find them if you don’t know where to look. Often people who download Mindspark’s (company that made LiveRadioSweeper and a bunch of other similar new tabs) add-ons comment that they couldn’t figure out how to use them.
Besides these links, LiveRadioSweeper gives you a search box in the middle of the screen. It can search the web, but you can’t choose on what site it goes: you might like to use Google.com, Bing.com, DuckDuckgo.com, or whatever other sites, but LiveRadioSweeper forces you to use Myway.com. Why? Well, because it’s made by the same company as LiveRadioSweeper, Mindspark. They make money from ads in the search results. The more users Myway.com has, the more lucrative it is.
All in all, Having LiveRadioSweeper hijack your browser is pretty much worse than using the default new tab in your browser. You can customize your default new tab by adding your own links and managing your own search engine. LiveRadioSweeper restricts that and gives nothing valuable in return.
How LiveRadioSweeper gets installed
LiveRadioSweeper may have appeared on your computer without you knowing what it is. If so, you may have downloaded it with a free program. Some free programs bundle potentially unwanted programs in them and install them for you. If you’re careful during the setup, you should be able to find the disclaimers and tick off the agreements to install LiveRadioSweeper and whatever other stuff is being offered. But it’s best to just avoid bundlers entirely.
Though LiveRadioSweeper is advertised a bit, many users find it while searching the web. They usually search for radio, music, and sports broadcasts. And it’s very possible that many of them already had adware on their computers, or else they would not have found LiveRadioSweeper easily. Adware viruses promote new tab hijackers and other malware by injecting ads for them into the browser, often in internet search results.
Ad injection hurts the sites you visit and clutters your view of webpages with ads. If case you noticed too many ads online, try disabling your extensions. If that helps, some of your extensions are flooding your browser with ads.
Remove LiveRadioSweeper
You can remove LiveRadioSweeper by yourself and I put the instructions for the most popular browsers below. LiveRadioSweeper attacks Chromium browsers, like Google Chrome and the new Microsoft Edge. And it’s not the only add-on that you should remove. Here are a few other hijackers that may have been installed together with LiveRadioSweeper:
- Hide My Searches
- Search Incognito
- Search Extension by Ask
- InstantRadioPlay
- RadioRage
You can also detect bad extensions by scanning your computer with an antivirus tool: SpyHunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for Mac OS, or another trusted program. It’s advised to scan your device because if there’s malware on it, it could reinstall LiveRadioSweeper the next time you start your computer. Also, anti-malware programs can detect and remove malicious extensions for you.
