Lodder.club is a rogue site that functions like adware — it provides some aggressive marketers a platform to reach users. It’s not worth to expect that the ads will be interesting and introduce you to any valuable product or service; if anything, Lodder.club will only put your private information in danger and pollute your Web browsing experience with endless ads.

How does Lodder.club cause pop-ups?
In order to be able to push pop-up ads, Lodder.club requires your consent — in theory. In practice, Lodder.club tricks careless or distracted people to press that button that would allow notifications to be sent by Lodder.club. Those notifications are then abused to spam pop-up ads.
Specifically, Lodder.club visitors are tricked by the website presenting some simple text: “To access, click Allow” and “If you are 18+ click Allow”. An arrow is pointing at about where the notification alert is supposed to be. It’s very simple and other rogue websites use similar tactics: Studynerdz.com shows an animation of a loading video and pretends that it can’t play it until the visitor allows notifications, Pertonthati.info fakes a captcha — it tells visitors that they need to click “Allow” to prove that they are not robots. It is likely that a lot of people click the “Allow” button on reflex — before they can even think about it. And then it’s too late, because from there, Lodder.club has the “permission” to start spamming the ads.
What’s wrong with Lodder.club ads?
Pop-up cards at the side of your screen that spawn over the content that you’re trying to view. Flashy, animated ads that use a lot of processing power and really slow down your computer, especially if it doesn’t have the newest and best hardware — like the vast majority of personal computers. At this point, Lodder.club has probably not installed any viruses on your computer, and this is all happening just in your browser.
The ads being pushed by Lodder.club are generally created in ways that do not fit normal advertising requirements. Professional, reputable advertising networks have a lot of rules which constrain what an ad can do. Things that are not allowed include, among other things:
- malware distribution,
- misuse of information about the users,
- being dishonest about the fees that people will be charged,
- targeting minors with restricted content (for example, gambling)
— all sins committed by ads that are pushed by Lodder.club and similar adware sites. The rules are there to protect users and ensure a smooth web browsing experience, but Lodder.club does not care. If the page is ever taken down or blocked and becomes useless, its owners will just create a new one.
This might look like not a big deal, just a bit of aggressive advertising. But there really are some dangerous sites being linked to by these ads: pages encouraging people to invest in Ponzi schemes, those that automatically download malware and PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), and phishing sites that try to steal people’s passwords and usernames.
Even the more innocent looking sites — streaming services or online games — have problems; when you research the specific services, you find out about how they charge people without authorisation, how they misrepresent the pricing and confuse consumers, how they have the sorts of technical difficulties that result in people not receiving what they paid for.
How to get rid of Lodder.club ads
It’s tremendously unlikely that you found Lodder.club on your own; there probably already is some adware installed on your computer that directed you to Lodder.club.
Most likely, you got adware is freeware bundles. Bundling combines multiple programs, usually the main one (the one that you are trying to install) and a few additional applications that are hiding in the installer settings. Usually, there are checkboxes — checked by default — that agree to the installation of the additional software. It’s very easy to miss them if you only skimmed the installation windows. Even if you were careful and read all the fine print, it’s not obvious which apps are malware and PUPs, and which are useful. It’s a good idea to research each app before deciding if you want to invite it on your computer.
To find out if your system has adware, you can go through your list of installed programs and check each application’s name, then remove the ones that are known as adware. Alternatively, you can scan your programs and files with an antivirus program, like Spyhunter and remove adware if it’s found.
The Lodder.club pop-ups can be stopped by going to your browser settings, looking at which websites can push notifications, then getting rid of Lodder.club. The specific way to access the settings depends on the browser. Chrome, Firefox, and the others all allow people to revoke notification permissions, which is all that’s needed to stop the Lodder.club pop-up ads.
