What does Look-this.site do?
Links in social media
Look-this.site is very similar to Touch-here.site, an e-greeting card site. People create quizzes and tests on Look-this.site and share them because they find them fun.
Look-this.site gets shared on social media sites, chatting apps, and email. These links are nicely formatted and usually display the name of the person who created the link and shared it with you.
Here on 2-Viruses, we usually advise people to not click on unfamiliar links that get shared. Such links can lead to dangerous places:
- phishing sites that seek to steal people’s credentials (passwords and usernames),
- fake security alerts that lead to tech support scams,
- fake software update alerts that spread adware bundles.
Email e-cards are especially risky, especially those that come in email. They can be used to spread malware through malicious links and attachments.
It’s good to be careful of unfamiliar links. That said, Look-this.site is not dangerous.
Quizzes and tests (and privacy)
On Look-this.site, you have Super Dare, Buddy Test, Best Buddy Meter, and other tests that let people compete and compare themselves to each other. Friend groups and families share links to these Look-this.site tests for fun. It’s like a group activity.
This can be a problem for privacy. Remember that doing tests on Look-this.site means that your name and results will be visible to other people. When I tried doing tests on Look-this.site, I was not given a choice whether to display my name or results – they just got posted. So, keep this in mind before doing tests on Look-this.site. If you’re not comfortable with other people seeing what you did on Look-this.site, don’t click its links.
And if you create tests on Look-this.site, remember that some people might feel pressured to participate even if they don’t enjoy it. So, make it clear to everyone what the test means for their privacy and remind them that they don’t have to do it.
If you find yourself on Look-this.site, read its privacy policy – it’s pretty short. The gist is, Look-this.site collects user information (IP, browser, which pages you’re on), but it doesn’t mention targeted ads besides Google Analytics.
How to stay safe on Look-this.site
There are a few things you can do to stay safe on Look-this.site:
- don’t use your full real name on Look-this.site,
- don’t click on ads if they look suspicious to you and don’t allow notifications on unfamiliar sites,

WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social media sites and apps are vulnerable to scams. So, when you get a suspicious link from a friend, ask them about what it is. Don’t click on the link until you get an assurance from your friend that it is safe.
If you suspect that something is wrong with your device – if you see too many ads, pop-ups, redirects, if your device is too slow, then you should review if and remove suspicious items.
Review your extensions and remove those that are suspicious: that you didn’t install yourself, that ask for unnecessary permissions. Remove all adware and potentially unwanted programs manually and with antivirus tools: Combo Cleaner for macOS, Spyhunter for Windows, and others. Block notifications from unwanted sites.
