About LowRate adware
It works as browser add-on that can be added to all most common web browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or even Safari. Once inside it will flood your web browsers with advertisements in all kinds of forms, including pop-up, pop-under, in-text, banner or contextual advertisements.
Usually those advertisements displayed by LowRate appear on e-commerce websites, such as eBay or Amazon and offers you to purchase some particular goods at very appealing price rate. However, don’t fall for that trick – most of the time those offers are fake, they are just trying to win your attention and make you click on one of those advertisements this way. If you do so, you will be immediately redirected to other websites that may be owned by various cyber criminals, such as hackers or scammers.
LowRate works as advertising network for cyber criminals. Since they are banned from all legitimate advertising networks, they use adware like LowRate to promote their products and drive some traffic to their websites. This being said, if you keep LowRate installed on your computer, various cyber criminals can reach you right on your web browser on a daily basis and that’s very dangerous.
Distribution Methods of LowRate adware
LowRate is traveling the same way as most of other adware – bundled with various free applications. For instance, when you download and install some freebie from unreliable websites, there is a chance that LowRate will be installed alongside without even warning you about that.
Actually, the best way to protect your computer would be to keep it protected with a decent anti-malware application and avoid downloading software from unreliable websites. However, sometimes both of these points of emphasis are difficult to accomplish, therefore always pay close attention to the installation process of freeware.
Don’t skip any steps and always opt out for a custom or advanced install mode if possible. This way you will be able to see all available options and make needed changes. Reading all terms and conditions would be considered wise as well. Look for various checkboxes that can be already checked for you. If it’s too late and your computer is already infected, wait no more and get rid of LowRate right now.
