About LuckyShopper
This application should provide you with various coupons, deals and offers, that is, promises to save both: your time and money when shopping online. However, this description has nothing to do with reality. Once installed, this adware will display various advertisements on your web browsers, such as pop-up, pop-under, in-text or banner advertisements. Usually they appear on e-commerce websites, such as eBay or Amazon and offer you to purchase some particular goods at a very appealing price rate. Even though those advertisements look very tempting, you should not fall for them. It’s just a trick to draw your attention and make you click on them. If you do so, you will be immediately redirected to other websites that may be owned by cyber criminals. This can result in your computer getting infected or if you attempt to purchase something there, you can even get scammed and lose your money.
LuckyShopper works as a browser add-on that can be added to all most popular web browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. It’s like advertising network for an unwanted content – cyber criminals use it to drive traffic to their websites. So this means, if you have this adware installed on your computer, infections and frauds can reach you right on your web browser on a daily basis. Another unwanted attribute of this malware is data collection. Once installed, it will collect various information about your browsing habits and interests, such as browsing history, top visited sites, search queries and your email or/and IP addresses. The third parties adjust those advertisements according to the collected data, so they look even more attractive and relevant to you, based on your interests. This way chances that you will click on one of those advertisements rise. And that’s the main goal of LuckyShopper, because its creators get paid for every click you make.
Distribution methods of LuckyShopper
LuckyShopper travels bundled with other free software. I.e. when you download and install some freebie from an unreliable source, there is a chance that LuckyShopper will be installed behind your back. That’s why it’s important to be very attentive during the installation of free software. Always opt out for a custom or advanced install mode and do not skip any steps (don’t just click on ‘next’ and ‘agree’ buttons without reading the whole information first). Make sure to read all terms and conditions as well. Look for various check boxes that can be already selected for you. Don’t rush, because some of the most important information can be displayed in a very tiny font. If you see that some additional software that you are not aware of is being installed alongside – do not allow this to happen, because it can be LuckyShopper or any other malware. These tips should help you to protect your computer from various infections.
