Mapmyquest.co (or Map My Quest) is a browser extension that changes your home page. Mapmyquest.co replaces the home page and features ads, a changed search box, and a few map links. Though it’s supposed to be a map-centered browser extension, Mapmyquest.co’s features are very lacking. Worse, users may notice Mapmyquest.co spamming their screen with unwanted ads. If that happens, or if you just want to remove Mapmyquest.co from your new tab, you only need to uninstall Map My Quest and block Mapmyquest.co’s notifications.

How to remove Mapmyquest.co
Considering that Mapmyquest.co is adware and a browser hijacker, the best thing to do is to delete it. It is not dangerous to leave it installed, but neither is it helpful. It’s up to you, of course.
Whether you delete Mapmyquest.co or not, search your computer for other suspicious software. It’s likely that other junkware was installed alongside Mapmyquest.co that should be deleted.
Use an anti-malware program like Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, or another reputable application. Scan your computer. If the scanners find any suspicious items, they should show them in the scan results.
To uninstall Mapmyquest.co manually, remove the Map My Quest extension in browser settings. The instructions are below, at the bottom of this post. In case the extension is impossible to remove, read this post – there might be some settings that need to be changed before Mapmyquest.co can be deleted.
Mapmyquest.co offers to send notifications to your browser. If you allowed them, you may be getting pop-ups from various websites that appear on your screen when the browser is open. You can block unwanted notifications in browser settings:
- Go to your notification settings:

- Scroll until you see a list of “Allowed” sites. Find Mapmyquest.co and other sites that are sending unwanted notifications and press the button next to each of them and then click “Block”.
What is Mapmyquest.co
Not-MapQuest
Mapmyquest.co is a homepage replacement site. It’s shown in the browsers where the Map My Quest extension is installed. Map My Quest is supposed to provide a tool to plan trips and get turn-by-turn navigation, show live traffic updates, info on points of interest, as well as… exclusive deals and offers (ads).
Based on web analytics, it seems like people who search for Mapquest (a legitimate online map) end up finding Mapmyquest.co. No wonder – despite being a totally unrelated product, Mapmyquest.co’s name is very similar to Mapquest’s. In reality, Mapmyquest.co doesn’t even have links to Mapquest.
Lacking features
Once Map My Quest is installed, Mapmyquest.co replaces the home page in the browser. It’s supposed to use this to provide all the incredible map functionality and driving directions. Does it?
Mapmyquest.co allows to search for directions from its Get Directions widget. However, it only works once you select a map and then it just loads the website in a new browser tab. So, it saves no time compared to using, let’s say, Bing.com or Google.com as your home page, since these sites also have quick links to maps.
The other promised features, such as live updates and navigation, are also provided by third-party sites. For example, the Live Traffic button just opens Google Maps.
Clicking the extension icon just opens a new tab, so you can’t even use Mapmyquest.co without opening a new tab.
Mapmyquest.co also has an internet search box in the middle that leads to Yahoo.com, ignoring your search engine preferences.
Privacy issues
Mao My Quest is a free commercial browser extension. It’s made by Wealytics Media, just like Mapdirectionspro.co, Mapsnow.com, Protectmysearchapp.com, and other browser home page replacers. So, of course it advertises and collects user data:
- According to Mapmyquest.co’s privacy policy, it can read your location, search queries, and some other data.
- Then, this data can be used to show you promos, target ads, and deliver offers through notifications.
- Several links featured prominently on Mapmyquest.co have nothing to do with driving directions – they’re just there to sell things. There’s an online store, an insurance site, a clickbait site, a discounted program, and an adware add-on pretending to be anti-malware protection.
- Searches are redirected to Yahoo.com. Mapmyquest.co does not allow users to choose which search engine they want to use to search from their home page.
All these features harm the user experience. If screen space is wasted to display advertisements, internet search is hijacked, and user choice is ignored, then using no browser extensions at all is better than using Mapmyquest.co/Map My Quest. At least you can actually customize the default home and new tab pages. Mapmyquest.co just restricts that.
