Mvideo.pro Pop-up Ads - How to remove

Mvideo.pro is a website which targets desktop computers as well as mobile devices. This website can hijack the browser to funnel ads to unwilling users’ screens. While it’s simple to stop Mvideo.pro from doing this, the browser hijacking might indicate more serious cybersecurity problems.

If you see pop-ups by Mvideo.pro, it’s important to examine how exactly your browser was hijacked, what caused it, and how to avoid it in the future. People are introduced to Mvideo.pro by various deceptive and malicious ads, as well as other adware viruses. Mvideo.pro is only one of many, many online adware sites which prey on careless visitors and bombard them with unwanted promotional content, so online adware is an ongoing threat that we must be careful of.

Why Mvideo.pro is dangerous

The types of products that Mvideo.pro promotes are low-quality, often unsafe, sometimes even harmful:

  • Other adware sites
  • Suspicious and unregulated products, including medical supplements
  • Online gambling and FTP games
  • Get-rich-quick schemes and other scams

There might not be any explicitly malicious intent on the part of Mvideo.pro, rather, the people behind this site seem to be willing to partner with nearly anyone and disregard any regulations that are meant to protect users from scams.

Possibly even worse is all the malware that you are exposed to by Mvideo.pro. Browser hijackers, fake update and virus alerts, or simply malicious files that automatically download once you visit the site. And although your antivirus will probably save you from most viruses, it might not protect you from a malicious website, such as a phishing site that can steal your login credentials, or a scam service which will lure your credit card details from you.

For those reasons, it’s important to remove Mvideo.pro ads, as well as deal with the root problem of why you got caught by this malicious site in the first place.

How to get rid of Mvideo.pro ads

Block pop-up ads from Mvideo.pro by accessing your browser settings. You will see a list of websites which are either allowed to send you notifications, or which have them blocked. Find Mvideo.pro on the list and disable or block notifications from it. This article has instructions on how to block all notifications — this might be a good idea.

Block notifications from Mvideo.pro:

Chrome
  1. Paste chrome://settings/content/notifications into the address bar.
  2. Find the row with Mvideo.pro, click on the menu to its right.
  3. Click either “Block” or “Remove”.
Safari
  1. In the menu, click on Safari, then Preferences.
  2. In the new window, choose Websites and then Notifications.
  3. Find Mvideo.pro and click Deny to the right.
Edge
  1. In the menu, choose Settings and then Advanced settings.
  2. Find Notifications and click Manage.
  3. Find Mvideo.pro and turn it off.
Firefox
  1. Paste about:preferences#content in the address bar.
  2. Look under Notifications.
  3. Find Mvideo.pro and block notifications from it.

Look at your list of allowed notifications — there are so many online adware sites (Lifeimpressions.net, Install.notify-service.com, Videojosmooth.com) which, if allowed to spam you with ads, will use that ability at some point. Avoid the problem before it even starts.

How to avoid online adware?

Never allow notifications if you don’t want to receive constant updates from a website. Even legitimate websites sometimes abuse notifications and turn them into spam. Following Mvideo.pro’s instructions is on par with the Macro virus, although not as dangerous.

Reduce the number of malicious ads that you’re exposed to by avoiding unsafe websites. Some sites partner with illegitimate, unethical “advertising networks” and throw their users under the bus just to make some money. If a website does not handle its ads well, consider looking for an alternative.

Check your computer for adware and uninstall it. Catch viruses by using a professional antivirus program, such as Spyhunter, to scan your device. If you find an adware program on your machine, uninstall it, but don’t forget to scan your computer again later. A problem with malware is that it’s rarely installed alone. If one virus has infected a computer, sooner or later, another one will join it. So, if you block Mvideo.pro, but the pop-ups come back, or you uninstall a program, but it returns against your will, a virus could be messing with your settings in the background. That’s when a strong antivirus is needed.
