MyCalendarPlanner – browser adware
MyWay search redirect
MyCalendarPlanner is made by the company responsible for dozens of browser add-ons, including ProPDFConverter, MyQuickLotto, InternetSpeedUtility, and many others. These browser newtab extensions are all based on the same template – a new tab page that has a few links to some useful sites, and a MyWay search bar in the middle. This outdated and intrusive design is not well-liked and is extremely basic, but fits the purpose of these extensions – which is to get people to use MyWay.
Advertising in search results is how MyWay makes money, os the more users it has, the more profitable it is. That’s fair, but the idea is to offer you a service so good that you’d want to use it, ads and all. Whether MyCalendarPlanner is really that good is up for you to decide.
MyCalendarPlanner is a newtab virus, a type of mild adware:

Usually, the extensions that this company produces offer very poor quality functions. But I can see how somebody might find MyCalendarPlanner useful because this one actually has some features. MyCalendarPlanner offers free printable calendar templates, options to add your own events, see national holidays for some countries, and other features. It’s still unhelpful and totally unnecessary for this newtab add-on to take over the new tab page, access your browsing history, check what you search for on its partner websites, or try to manage your browser extensions.
Dishonest distribution
Getting excessive permissions is one of the signs that a browser extension shouldn't be trusted. Another one, a lack of reviews, is also present with MyCalendarPlanner. Of tens of thousands of users, I’d expect at least a few of them to comment about the features of the extension, yet not one of them has even rated it on Google’s web store. This isn’t normal but can most easily be explained if MyCalendarPlanner isn’t distributed like a normal extension.
Browser hijackers can get installed manually, but often they also spread using bundling. Bundling is a way for free programs to make money by offering additional software during their setup process as a sort of advertisement. If you like the offer, you can install this program right away. This method is abused by malware so that the offers are buried in user agreements or somewhere else where it’s hard to notice, then installed by default.
Programs being bundled sometimes is the fault of the developer, other times is done by the distributor – the owner of the site you downloaded your program from. it’s important to be careful when installing commercial freeware if you want to avoid nasty surprises like a newtab adware infection.
There are also misleading ads that promote hijackers related to MyCalendarPlanner. Sites similar to Pushsub.club do this by sometimes redirecting you to the add-on installation site. Another example is trying to track your post package, putting in the tracking number, and instead of getting the answer, being told to install an extension like PackTrackPlus. This is dishonest, so when this happens, stay away – you can find better and more reliable websites.
How to remove MyCalendarPlanner
If you find MyCalendarPlanner useful, don’t worry and keep using it. The extension isn’t all that malicious, even if it does use some questionable tactics. MyWay is a functional search engine, even if it does have a bit too many ads and doesn’t always find results well enough.
However, antivirus programs dislike MyCalendarPlanner for a reason – it is still a browser hijacker.
Maybe you were looking for a way to get rid of MyCalendarPlanner as soon as possible because it rudely injected itself into your browser without even asking. An antivirus program like SpyHunter for Windows or Combo Cleaner for Mac OS could help you get rid of adware that might be responsible for the MyCalendarPlanner hijacking, or you could manually uninstall MyCalendarPlanner and its related extensions (like Ask). Either way, the instructions are below.
