Is Myflixer safe?

Myflixer allows everyone to stream and download movies for free. It’s a movie pirating site. It’s illegal and some security programs do flag it as Malicious, but it’s not very dangerous.
Torrenting copyrighted content may be illegal depending on where you’re from. If you’re caught doing it, you could for example receive a warning from your ISP.
However, Myflixer is just a streaming site. The danger of using Myflixer to watch movies comes from the ads that it shows. Yeah, though Myflixer claims that it has “zero ads”, it does show advertisements.
- Some of the ads are relatively clearly labeled, like the ones that show up before playing a movie.
- Others are deceptively presented. For example, I saw many MacKeeper ads disguised as macOS warnings and implying that my Mac is infected with viruses.
- Most of the ads on Myflixer.to trigger without permission when you interact with the site. They open in new browser tabs and it might not be obvious that these new tabs are advertisements.
- Some of the Myflixer sites ask you to allow notifications. They can use them to show ads in your browser, even when you don’t have the Myflixer site open.
How to stay safe on Myflixer
We don’t recommend engaging in piracy because it is dangerous. We see serious malware spreading with cracked or “unlocked” software, while malicious ads infect many streaming sites.
But if you must stream movies from illegal sites like Myflixer, then one of the best ways to protect yourself is to use an ad blocker. Ad blockers are programs or browser extensions that block some advertisements. If you use a good ad blocker, it should have features that allow you to configure the websites whose ads need to be blocked and what kinds of ads are allowed to stay up.
Block ads
As a bonus, ad blockers make Myflixer much more bearable to use because they block those annoying new tab pop-ups.
Some sites detect ad blockers and refuse to work for those who use them. If that happens, do not disable your ad blocker and don’t look for another, obscure ad blocker to install – that could be dangerous. Instead, look for information online on how to solve the issue. Your ad blocker might have a forum where you can post questions and ask for help.
Protect yourself from malware

Avoid Myflixer clones
There are official Myflixer sites, like Myflixer.to, Myflixer.today, and Myflixer.com. There are also clone sites that use the Myflixer name but aren’t related to the real sites. The clones know that the name “Myflixer” is trusted. They use it to get traffic with little effort, then put ads on their sites.
While the Myflixer sites are not exactly safe, the clones are even less trustworthy. These fly-by-night sites are unpredictable, so don’t take any chances.
In addition, do not install any apps, programs, or browser add-ons for Myflixer unless you’re absolutely sure that they come from the operators of Myflixer. Not to say that an app made by the official Myflixer would be trustworthy, but a fake app would be even worse.
