MyHoome.com virus is a browser hijacker that can be added to your computer while you are installing some freeware to your computer. Once inside, the program changes your homepage and default search provider to myhoome.com on your Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Although the website is not considered to be malicious, such invasion into your browsers is not really fair.
MyHoome.com virus seeks to advertise various commercial websites. It adds their links to your search results and expects you to click on them as every new visit brings money for the creators of this hijacker. In addition, the program collects information about your browsing routine and it follows what websites you are visiting and what search queries you are making. This is a popular way to collect information for the third parties, so in future they could use it to make more targeted promotions.
Since MyHoome.com virus is installed together with random video players, recorders, PDF creators and other freeware available from the Internet, you can avoid its installation. Bundles can usually be seen at the installation steps of the software that you are installing. If you choose custom installation, you may see some pre-checked confirmation boxes that tell about additional programs available to download. You have to deselect these boxes if you don’t want to get any unknown programs installed to your computer automatically.
