Mysearchdial is a browser add-on that hijacks web browsers and alters their settings in unhelpful ways. More specifically, it changes the homepage to Start.mysearchdial.com and replaces your default search engine with its own. It promotes certain websites and generates traffic for them by forcing its unwitting users to visit them. Mysearchdial gets installed without users’ permission, so people might not realize what’s causing their browser to behave strangely.
You can remove Mysearchdial by uninstalling unwanted browser extensions and restoring your browser settings.

Mysearchdial is a browser hijacker
It lacks useful features
Mysearchdial promises to give you easy access to the most popular websites and web services, as well as provide the best search results. Really, though, it just causes redirects to affiliated sites and displays pop-up ads. Rather than a useful browser add-on, it’s an adware virus.
Mysearchdial offers no useful functions. In fact, it lacks features that other search engines and new tab pages have:
- it can’t change its background image,
- no way to add links to your favorite websites to the Start.mysearchdial.com page,
- the search results on Mysearchdial can’t be filtered in any way other than text commands,
- if you try to load additional result types on Mysearchdial.com, it might open a Yahoo page, which can be jarring.
You have a choice for which search engine and home page to use in your browser. Plenty are much better than Mysearchdial.
That Mysearchdial opens Yahoo.com puts it in the same company as other Yahoo redirect viruses: Groovorio, Astromenda, Taplika, Search.iminent.com, etc.
It promotes affiliated websites
Beware that the Mysearchdial virus modifies your search results by including numerous sponsored websites in your search results. It can also limit which websites can display the results, which might affect the quality of these results. The extension might also cause unexpected new tabs to open in your browser.
In addition, the Mysearchdial records data about your browsing habits: what you search for, which results you open, what other sites you visit. Later, this data can be used for marketing purposes.
All of this advertising might be alright if Mysearchdial offered any useful features. Sadly, it doesn’t and this makes it an unwanted or even harmful program.
How it was installed
Although Mysearchdial is old (goes back to 2013), it is still being detected in 2021 and the Mysearchdial.com site still receives hundreds of thousands of visits from America, India, France, and other countries all over the globe.
Mysearchdial likely was installed by a free program that you downloaded from the internet. It must have been included as an optional offer (see InstallCore) that was installed by default:
- you download a free program off of the internet,
- you run the setup and begin the installation,
- the setup includes optional offers, including Mysearchdial for your browser,
- the optional offers are installed by default.
The problem with Mysearchdial being installed accidentally is that the optional offer is not disclosed clearly enough and users miss it. That’s why it’s important to be careful when installing new programs.
Because Mysearchdial infiltrates computers in this way, it is considered to be a potentially unwanted program. If you want to avoid getting any more malware on your PC or Mac, you should be extra careful when downloading anything from the Internet. Follow the steps of installation carefully, read every setup screen, and check if it offers you to get some additional applications. Most of the time additional applications are downloaded to your computer automatically, unless you deselect this option by yourself.
How to remove Mysearchdial
It is advised to remove Mysearchdial virus from your computer if you have noticed its activity on your browser. The program can be detected by anti-malware programs like Spyhunter for PC, Combo Cleaner for Mac, and some others. If you want to uninstall the plugin and related software yourself, you can remove Mysearchdial virus manually too. We recommend using the removal instructions below.
If you cannot remove extensions, check our post on removing add-ons when “your browser is managed by your organization”.
