You might be wondering why this virus is called like that, but it’s pretty obvious – all files locked by this virus have .NEWRAR extension at the end. They have two emails that they want you to contact –  [email protected] and [email protected]. To prove that they have working technology to unlock files, they want you to send them up to 3 encrypted files that they would decrypt and send back to you.

We do not recommend to do that – they might have the technology to decrypt them, but you can never trust them and paying the ransom is never a good idea. It’s not known how much you will be asked to pay, but it can be anything between $150 and $1500 or even more.

Step 1. Restore system into last known good state using system restore

1. Reboot your computer to Safe Mode with Command Prompt:

for Windows 7 / Vista/ XP

• Start → Shutdown → Restart → OK.

On the left top corner select the drive where the file you are looking for is a stored. You will see all folders on that drive. To retrieve a whole folder, right-click on it and select “Export”. Then choose where you want it to be stored.

Step 4. Use Data Recovery programs to recover .NEWRAR Files Virus encrypted files
