Obrona BlockAds is not a valid application that you should keep on your computer. Even though developers of this piece of software promise that it will enhance your web browsing experience and will block pop-up advertisements on various websites, Obrona BlockAds will display ads of its sponsors by itself. It is not very difficult to identify if pop-up and other various forms of ads (pop-unders, banner ads, in-text ads) come from this particular program, because they all are labeled with a slogan “Ads by OBRONA BlockAds” as you can see in the picture below.
If you have noticed this promotion on your computer, it’s 100% that your PC is infected with Obrona BlockAds. If you don’t remember installing it, that’s natural, because this adware is distributed using unfair methods and most of the time gets installed on systems without users’ awareness, behind their allowance. It is not a dangerous virus itself, but it can lead you to some very serious cyber security problems, therefore it needs to get uninstalled right away after the identification. It works as a browser add-on and can be added to all most popular web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and even Internet Explorer. The main goal of Obrona is to generate as big as possible web traffic to their sponsors’ websites and collect sales leads afterwards. Its owners make money this way and the already mentioned third parties promote their products or services through this unfair advertising channel. Almost always those sponsors of Obrona BlockAds are developers of malware (adware, ransomware, trojans or browser hijackers) and that’s why you should not click on ads by Obrona BlockAds. If you do so, you will be immediately redirected to the websites that may be infected and cause harm to your computer. New malicious malware may be infiltrated to your system during your visit on those websites.
The Obrona BlockAds application wants you to click on those ads (because all its developers’ revenue comes from there) and for that reason the owners of it do a research on your browsing habits and suggest their sponsors how those ads should look like so you would want to click on them. The research is not very fair as well – this adware collects your personal information such as browsing history, search queries, top visited sites or IP address and transfers it to the mentioned third parties. On their part, they adjust their ads according to the given data by making them more relevant and attractive to you. This adware is listed as a PUP (potentially unwanted application) due to all the malicious actions that it performs. You should remove it from your system as soon as possible if you don’t want to get into any more serious danger.
It’s not a secret that that Obrona is distributed bundled with other free software that can be found online and for that reason most of the users don’t remember installing it. That being said, to keep your computer out of trouble, you should be very careful during the installation of various software downloaded from a suspicious looking website for free. Do not skip any steps and opt out for a custom or advanced install mode if possible. Look for various check boxes or advanced options and make sure no suspicious additional software is being installed alongside. This should prevent you from adding anything unwanted. If it is too late for these tips and you are already seeing ads by Obrona BlockAds, just scan your computer with a trustworthy anti-malware, such as Spyhunter or malwarebytes and this should solve the problem automatically. To get the same results without using any additional anti-malware software, follow our step-by-step Obrona BlockAds removal guide.
