OfferBox is an adware program that can be secretly infiltrated into your computer and display numerous annoying ads. Although the application is presented as a revolutionary personal shopping assistant that can save lots of money when you are shopping online, the truth is it only tries to make money by sending computer users to commercial websites. As OfferBox is usually installed without users’ knowledge, many of its victims consider it a virus. In fact it’s an adware program which anyway has to be removed.
OfferBox browser plugin affects Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. In most cases it comes bundled with freeware from the Internet, although it can also be downloaded from its official website. Many computer users do not notice its infiltration if they don’t pay enough attention to their downloads from the Internet. The program is installed automatically and it doesn’t require a separate authorization.
Once inside, OfferBox displays numerous ads on your computer while you are surfing the Internet. The content of these ads is based on your previously made searches and other browsing habits that adware programs can track using cookies and other tracking techniques. Usually the messages offer getting discounts and coupons to purchase various items or get services. Unfortunately, the main goal of them is to advertise commercial websites, so you shouldn’t get excited about these offers. They definitely are not created to save your money.
If you want to prevent getting such applications to your computer in the future, I advice watching what you are installing to your PC more carefully. Make sure you do not download any suspicious applications. Another tip is to check installation steps of all your downloads and to make sure you know what you are agreeing on before installing anything.
