OkiiTan is an adware program that was created to promote various commercial websites and improve their traffic. Although the software claims to be a useful tool, especially for those who like to shop online, it is a very annoying application and all of its goals are related to marketing. According to an official website of OkiiTan, it is a free set of tools that work to make your browsing experience better, from searching the web to comparing online deals in order to find the best prices. Many users have noticed OkiiTan ads popping up although they have never installed this application to their systems themselves.
If you have noticed any commercial ads on your computer brought by this adware, it is very likely that you have downloaded OkiiTan without your consent while installing another free application. As many users don’t pay much attention to the installation steps, they often end up downloading extra programs that come bundled to other software. To avoid that, you should pay more attention to the installation processes of any free applications and always read their Terms and Agreements.
Once inside, OkiiTan spies on your activities online and generates ads according to your interests. Since it is compatible with numerous retailers online, it will manage to make ads suitable for anyone. OkiiTan ads contain links to sponsored websites and if you click on them, you will be force to visit them. If you want to avoid visiting possibly unsafe websites and being constantly disturbed by a flow of ads, you should remove OkiiTan as soon as you notice it on your computer.
