It’s not very difficult to indicate if your computer is infected with this malware because usually advertisements displayed by ProductivityBoss are labeled with a slogan “Ads by ProductivityBoss” or “Brought to you by ProductivityBoss”. So if you have noticed this occurrence on any of your web browsers, your computer is definitely infected and you need to take care of that.
So if you have noticed those ads and discovered that ProductivityBoss is operating on your system, you have come to the right place. We are here to help you eliminate this unwanted application – it’s not that difficult if you have needed assistance. What’s wrong about ProductivityBoss?
Once installed it will display various advertisements on all of your web browsers. Those ads can be displayed in all kinds of forms, such as pop-up, pop-under, in-text, banner or contextual advertisements. If you click on one of them, you will be immediately redirected to other websites that might be owned by various cybercriminals, such as hackers or scammers.
This way your computer can get infected with other more serious viruses or if you attempt to purchase something there you can even get scammed and lose your hard-earned money this way. That’s the main reason why ProductivityBoss is considered to be dangerous. Unfortunately, that’s not it.
ProductivityBoss can be described as an advertising network for cybercriminals – since they are banned from all legitimate advertising networks like Google or Facebook ads they use adware like this to promote their websites and drive some traffic to them. This being said, if you keep ProductivityBoss installed on your computer, various cybercriminals can reach your right on your web browser on a daily basis and that’s very dangerous. Actually, there are a lot of infections similar to this one, like Good-search.ml, Chromesearch.online, TheNextTask.com, so we know them pretty well.
You are also likely to experience other symptoms due to this infection – browsers might freeze, the overall performance of your computer will become less efficient and other types of viruses can be infiltrated into your system.
That’s not even all unwanted features of this adware. You know why it is called ProductivityBoss? Because it provides users with a new homepage that features various links to other websites that should make your web browsing easier and more productive.
Unfortunately, that’s just a clever trick to create an image of reliable service. They also feature a web search function which is powered by MyWay. Myway is a browser hijacker developed by Mindspark, therefore we highly suggest to avoid this function as well.
How can you get infected with ProductivityBoss virus?
Usually, ProductivityBoss gets installed on users computers when they download and install some freeware from unreliable websites. This malware travels bundled with other freeware, so you should always pay close attention to the installation process of free applications downloaded from the Internet.
Never skip any steps and always opt for a custom or advanced install mode if possible. This way you will be able to see all the available options and make needed changes. Reading all terms and conditions would be considered wise as well. If during the installation you notice that some additional software that you are not aware of is being installed alongside – don’t allow this installation to be completed because it can possibly be ProductivityBoss or any other malware that you don’t want to see installed on your computer.
Also, it would be wise to protect your computer with an anti-malware program that features real-time protection. Take a look at Malware Fighter or Plumbytes – those free options might be just what you need.
On behalf of developers of ProductivityBoss we were asked to remove this article due to false information on it. However, we feel like this post is correct and helpful to our readers. ProductivityBoss and other software developed by Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc. can be detected and recognised as viruses or potentially unwanted software by various anti-malware tools. Toolbars developed by Mindspark share same EULA (End User License Agreement) that is mislieding. It claims that this software is not an adware or malware, while there are statements that toolbars might display advertisements from 3rd parties or monetise toolbars in other ways. By definition such software is considered as an adware. All articles posted on www.2-viruses.com regarding products of Mindspark are correct.
