How to stop Promodayz.com notifications
Depending on your web browser (Whatsmybrowser.org), the way to open notification settings is a little different:
- Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
- New Edge – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Firefox – open Settings, Preferences, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.
But the principle is the same. You should now see two lists of site addresses: the ones that are allowed to send you notifications, and the ones that you’ve blocked from doing it. Promodayz.com will be in the lists of allowed sites.
Promodayz.com may appear more than once, with names like 1.promodayz.com, 3.promodayz.com, etc. You have to block all these sites from sending you any more notifications.
To the right of each address, there should be a button that you can click to bring up a small menu. From the menu, choose “Block” (or “Deny”) and click it. This will move Promodayz.com to the list of blocked sites.
Doing this does not actually block Promodayz.com, it only stops it from sending you more notifications and from asking you to allow notifications. However, Promodayz.com can still show you fake notification prompts, redirect you to promoted sites, and keep showing up in your browser.
You can use anti-malware apps or ad-blockers to block unwanted sites from appearing in your browser. In fact, it would be helpful to scan your computer for malware with a security program (such as Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, or others). Just, be careful of fake and malicious ad-blockers.
Dangerous ads
Promodayz.com spams notification pop-ups to the infected browser, which is annoying and distracting. It costs productivity and makes web browsing very unpleasant. But it’s even worse than that.
Promodayz.com is the same type of website as Ppl-news2.club, Pushisback.com, Personal-video.live, Videotime.site, Mediatop.me, and others. All these sites are adware sites that hijack people’s notifications and spread advertisements. Many of these sites are connected to each other and promote each other, which means that if one tricks you, you will encounter a lot more of them in the future.
Promodayz.com is used to bring you ads by various third parties, and these ads include material that’s been rejected by mainstream sites and ad-networks: scams, malware, get-rich-quick schemes, fake virus warnings that try to get you to download PC optimizers. Promodayz.com really exposes people to some dangerous content, so it’s important to block its notifications as soon as possible.
How Promodayz.com tricks people
The Promodayz.com website does three things:
- It is advertised online, mostly on sites that don’t have a lot of standards for their ads. “Free” streaming sites, pirating sites, video and audio converters, etc.
- Promodayz.com has pages that ask the visitor to click the Allow button. It also shows a notification pop-up. Clicking the Allow button on the notification pop-up enables Promodayz.com to send notifications to that particular browser.
- Finally, Promodayz.com uses its access to various web browsers to send them sponsored links (ads). These notifications appear in your web browser and are labeled with Promodayz.com.
How Promodayz.com appears in a browser depends on what site it was advertised on. It tries to blend in. Sometimes Promodayz.com says “Press Allow to verify that you are not robot”. Other times, it asks you to click the Allow button to “enable the Flash Player plugin”. Whatever it takes to get as many people as possible to unwittingly subscribe to Promodayz.com’s notifications.
