Why is Quick PC Booster harmful?

Quick PC Booster is supposed to be a program to make your computer run better. It promises to optimize a computer’s performance by deleting unnecessary data, managing your startup items, and helping you uninstall programs.

However, Quick PC Booster is actually malware. Antivirus programs label it as Malware, Trojan, Unsafe, and Potentially Unwanted: Virustotal.com.

Quick PC Booster is detected by many antivirus scanners as malicious.

That’s because Quick PC Booster tries to deceive its users. When Quick PC Booster scans your computer, it detects various “items that need to be optimized”. Many of these items are completely harmless and so small as to be meaningless for freeing up any free space on your PC. Some of the items are actually useful and should not be deleted.

The fact that Quick PC Booster implies that you need to clean your computer by removing these items makes it seem as though the files that it finds are somehow harmful and that Quick PC Booster is helping you by deleting them. Really, though, it’s just trying to appear useful in order to get you to buy its full version. It causes unnecessary stress by showing these fake detections, too.

In addition, the registry cleaning option that Quick PC Booster includes is a little dubious; Microsoft, the developer of Windows, advises against using registry cleaners. This is because the registry is sensitive: one wrong change could break your programs in unexpected ways.

Meanwhile, Quick PC Booster runs regularly and scans your computer, which consumes resources, too. In the end, it can make your PC run slower.

Because of all these reasons, it’s not surprising that Quick PC Booster is considered to be a potentially unwanted and even dangerous program.

Quick PC Booster detects a bunch of "problems" with your computer.

It’s not like deleting junk files is entirely useless. It’s just that there’s no use deleting them as often as Quick PC Booster wants to.

For computer cleaning, you can use the free tools that Microsoft has built into Windows, such as Storage Sense and Disk Cleanup: Support.microsoft.com. You can also simply reset your PC while keeping your files.

How to remove Quick PC Booster

Uninstall it from your Settings or from the Control Panel. You might be asked to allow Quick PC Booster to make changes to your computer – that’s normal. You apparently also need to reboot your computer in order for all of Quick PC Booster’s files to be removed, as it normally leaves some behind as it’s uninstalled.

In addition, it’s advisable to scan your computer with an antivirus program, such as Spyhunter, to see if any malicious or unsafe files are still present on your device. After all, if one unwanted program is on your computer, it’s likely that others are also present. That’s because potentially unwanted and malicious apps often spread in bundles or promote one another.

For example, Quick PC Booster has an affiliate program and its free version can be downloaded from many various freeware download sites. Some of these download sites bundle the software that they offer with adware viruses and other potentially unwanted programs. So, if you downloaded Quick PC Booster from one such software download site, it would be a good idea to make sure that no other malware was installed on your device.
