Rocket media player is labeled as an adware and can cause some very unpleasant experience for you. This PUP (potentially unwanted program) will display various types of ads on whichever browser you use – Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. It was designed specially to generate traffic and collect sales leads and make money that way. It is recommended to uninstall this adware from your computer, especially if you never wanted it to be installed. It wont generate any value to your browsing experience but there is a possibility that Rocket media player will make some kind of damage to your PC.
Once installed this PUP starts to gather your personal information like search queries, websites visited and browsing history. You can also notice a slow down of your computer or web browser.
Rocket media player can be downloaded from its’ official website. On that website it’s described as a valuable application which will help users to open media files of various formats. Another way how this adware can get onto your PC is via freeware. Most of the time it is bundled with other free software that can be downloaded from the Internet.
The funny thing is, if you downloaded Rocket media player bundled with other free software, you will be not able to uninstall it manually from control panel. What you need to do is to scan your computer with a trusted anti-spyware program like Spyhunter or malwarebytes and delete it automatically. In case you downloaded Rocket media player from its’ official site yourself, you can do remove it manually, just follow our instructions below.
Using Control Panel to remove the main Rocket media player components and installers
- Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
- Look for Rocket media player and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related.
