Search Lime is an advertising website that looks like a search engine. You might see ads on your screen that are labeled with “Search Lime” – ads delivered by the Searchlime.com website. They are used by some sites, however, if you see excessive ads and if you experience redirects by Search Lime, then there might be a program or browser add-on installed on your device that’s causing those excessive ads to appear.
You can check your device and remove those malicious programs to stop Search Lime ads from appearing on your screen.

Problems with Search Lime
Advertising and data collection
Search Lime is described as a tool that helps you find trending topics and great deals for products. And if you visit Searchlime.com, it appears to be a search engine. If you use it to search, it returns advertisements. That’s what Search Lime is – a site that delivers advertisements.
It’s one of those little “Around the web” ads that appear on the bottom or side of some websites, blended in with real article links like proper native ads.
There’s nothing wrong with advertising sites, but Search Lime is a little suspicious:
- It’s made by Linkury, a company that’s made many browser hijackers and adware infections, such as Searchlee.com.
- It promotes sites like Kensaq.com, Izito.ws, Zapmeta.ws, etc. a bit too much.
- It collects user data, such as which links you clicked on.
According to Search Lime’s privacy policy, it collects data on your device, such as your operating system, your software, your location, and what you do on Searchlime.com, how you react to its ads, which links you click and when. And this data is considered to be non-personal, which means that it can be shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
Installation
Search Lime’s ads might be displayed by websites like any other ads. But you might have experienced excessive ads, such as search redirects and pop-ups. Some malicious extensions and programs can inject ads into your browser. If Search Lime ads or other ads show up suspiciously often and if your browser opens unexpected websites, then it’s likely that an adware virus was installed on your computer.
Adware hijackers spread in a few ways:
- Deceptive ads that trick people into downloading and installing adware bundles. Fake software updates are used often.
- Adware bundled with safe and legitimate programs, hidden behind Advanced/Custom settings.
- Browser extensions bundled with other browser extensions.
If Search Lime ads are being injected into your browser, you need to find and remove the app that’s causing them to stop the advertising spam. Ad blockers can help, but they’re not the best solution. Removing the cause of the ads is the best.
How to remove Search Lime ads
Scan your computer with antivirus programs, such as Combo Cleaner for macOS, Spyhunter for Windows, and others. If they detect malware or potentially unwanted programs on your computer, remove those detected items.
Review your apps and browser extensions – those that were installed recently, that are unfamiliar to you, and that are suspicious. Look them up online and if any of them are known to be malware, remove them.
Below are the instructions for deleting browser extensions and checking your browser settings. With no browser hijackers, you can control your browser’s settings and make sure that no unwanted websites can influence your browsing.
Something missing from the instructions below is the page for managing your notification settings – important settings that define which sites are allowed to send messages to your browser.
With all that said, Search Lime is used to display ads on various websites. If you only see ads labeled “Ad Search Lime” on particular sites, then there’s no need to worry about an adware infection – though you might still want to avoid clicking on Search Lime’s ads.
