What is Search-streamly.com?

Search-streamly.com exists to advertise to you and to spy on you. It makes money that way.

For me, Search-streamly.com redirected my searches to Yahoo. That’s something done by a lot of free browser extensions – Yahoo redirects.

First, Search Streamly changes the default search engine settings to Feed.search-streamly.com. This means that all of your web searches done through the address bar to be sent to Search-streamly.com, which decides what website to open next.

In addition, Search-streamly.com can collect user data, including search queries and location. This data can be used to help advertisers show targeted ads. What data is collected is described n Search-streamly.com’s privacy policy. It includes:

  • Search logs – everything you searched for and when.
  • Which webpages you visited and which ads you clicked on.
  • Your location, language, and some technical data about your device.

Search-streamly.com has a front page, but it doesn't show it to its "users".

How it hijacks the browser

Search-streamly.com tends to use very deceptive advertisements to trick people into installing it:

  • Fake download links and buttons.
  • Ads that make it look like Search-streamly.com is required to be installed.
  • Deceptive installation pages.

Each deceptive ad for Search-streamly.com makes it look like it’s part of the site that you were just on. Or it tries to convince you that you’re required to install Search-streamly.com. Such ads are used by lots of browser hijackers, including Allmoviessearch.com, Hdstreamsearch.comMusicstreamsearch.com, and others.

As an example, I’ve had a hijacker similar to Search-streamly.com show up when I was trying to download a file from a file hosting site. If I’d been unfamiliar with the site, I might have thought that it was normal – that it was how the download screen looked. In reality, it was just another pop-up ad.
