Searchprivacy.live virus - How to remove

Searchprivacy.live is a newer, yet identical version of searchprivacy.co browser hijacker. It is not a typical browser hijacker because it won’t take over homepage nor new tab page – it will only affect the way you are browsing the web.

To begin with, we should say that this website is not a malware itself – the malware is Google Chrome extension Search Privacy that is available on Google Chrome online store for free. You might think that users gets infected by installing this tool on their web browsers, but usually that’s not the case – it comes as a bundle to over software that can be downloaded from the Internet. So if you have recently installed some free software of questionable reputation, it might be that your browser was hit by this infection due to it.

We have already stated that it won’t affect neither your homepage nor new tab page – this tool is dedicated to searches only. However, not only it hijacks your default search engine, it also implements itself to other popular search engines, therefore it is not possible to search the web any other way than using Searchprivacy.live.

It’s not that difficult to notice these changes, because you will see additional notice on the search bar and your results will be displayed by searchlive.co, even though you were using other search engine for that particular search.

Probably the biggest problem about this malware is corrupted results. Usually if you see some advertisements on Google, Yahoo or other common search engines, they are always relevant to your searches and just helps to deliver better results for you. In this case, things are different, as regardless of what you are searching for, first 3-5 results will always be sponsored results that have nothing to do with your actual search.

Most of the time those results lead to the pages that are affiliated with Searchprivacy.live and might be of a questionable quality. Actually, it is dangerous to click on those links because you can end up on a website that is owned by cyber criminals and this way your computer can get infected with other viruses or you can be tricked.

As Search Privacy add-on is only compatible with Google Chrome, other web browsers can’t be affected.
