Secret-vip.club is a malicious site – it infects your browser with pop-ups and links to other malicious websites. It tricks people to allow its notifications and then allows malicious actors to advertise through those notifications. The good news is that it’s possible to block the notifications pretty easily, just with browser settings.

Secret-vip.club pop-up ads
Secret-vip.club’s business is delivering ads to unwilling recipients by using the notification functionality. The ads appear as browser pop-ups labeled with “Secret-vip.club”. They advertise all kinds of stuff:
- Suspicious antivirus programs that try to scare you into buying the paid version. Often, they’re delivered by “you have a virus” sites.
- Shady binary options trading sites. Mostly, they’re introduced as “want to become a millionaire by working 30 minutes every day?” type deals. People end up investing a lot of money and they either lose it all, or can’t withdraw any of it.
- Tons of browser hijackers: PDF Converter HD Search, ConvertMyVid, SearchDimension, and other malware disguised as Flash Player installers will try to take over your browser.
Ads by Secret-vip.club aren’t normal ads, rather, they’re the type of stuff that’s banned from normal, reputable websites. Not concerned with any rules, these ads are free to be as deceptive and malicious as they want. Which can be dangerous.
How Secret-vip.club infects browsers
Deceptive ads
Secret-vip.club being a website, it can appear in your browser either as an ad/redirect from a shady website, or an ad injected into your browser by an adware infection.
Either way, once you’re on Secret-vip.club, it asks you to allow notifications. It makes up a few different templates to tell you why need to do that:
- skip an ad,
- win a new car,
- confirm that you are not a robot,
- confirm that you are over 18,
- download your file,
- close this page.
Each of these templates of Secret-vip.club are used in different situations and they can appear quite convincing in context.
Imagine you’re trying to download a file and then a new screen opens that asks you to allow downloading a file. Or you’re trying to watch a new episode of a TV show and a new screen opens asking you to allow to play it.
File download and video streaming sites redirect to Secret-vip.club randomly (they get paid for that) and Secret-vip.club shows the appropriate screen to create the illusion that you’re on the old website and that you can trust it.
But it’s not long after that Secret-vip.club starts spamming your browser with ads.
How to avoid notification spammers
It’s probably not practical for you to stop visiting shady half-legal websites to avoid the malicious ads that infest them. So, how can you protect yourself?
Using ad-blockers isn’t going to always work, but it should help a little. Antivirus programs that have web protection do block known malicious sites, but the blacklists can’t always keep up with all the new sites being created, so that’s also not 100% effective.
The best way to be safe against sites like Secret-vip.club is to just block notifications. Firefox does this by default and the next version of Chrome will do it, too. For now, you can configure these settings yourself. If you want, you can still receive notifications from the sites that you actually want them from, like your social media accounts and email inboxes, by manually adding them to your “Allowed” section.
How to stop Secret-vip.club pop-ups
The key to Secret-vip.club pop-ups is the notification permission settings in your browser. Open your browser settings to the notification section:
- Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
- Edge (new) – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address bar.
- Firefox – open the menu, choose Preferences, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, then see Notifications and press Settings next to it.
There, find “Secret-vip.club”, ‘Special-offers.online“, “Read-this-hot-stuff.today“, and any other sites in the “Allow” section of notifications, open their menus, and choose to block them. That should be good enough to stop the notifications.
Like I said, it’s possible that Secret-vip.club ads were injected into your browser by adware. In that case, you can find and remove the malware with an antivirus program, such as SpyHunter for PC, Combo Cleaner for Mac OS, and other reliable programs. It’s likely to be a bad browser extension.
