SnapMyScreen is a free application that says it can help you to take screenshots when browsing on the Internet. However, those who have been using this application have noticed a lot of ads on their system after installing this program. What is more, SnapMyScreen often comes bundled to other freeware without asking for permission to be installed, so many users add it without meaning to. If you have noticed SnapMyScreen Ads when browsing the Internet and they interfere with your regular browsing, remove this adware as soon as you detect it on your system. We highly recommend scanning your PC with a reputable antispyware program, like Combo Cleaner for Mac OS, Malwarebytes, or SpyHunter for Windows and eliminating all potentially unwanted programs that disturb your regular work.

SnapMyScreen can work as a browser extension, or as a desktop application. If you scan this application using a reputable antivirus tool, there’s a good chance that it will warn you about malware or adware.
The reason for this isn’t just that the installation is shady and fils to get your explicit permission, but also because the toolbar is nothing but adware. Many people complain that the toolbar doesn’t even take screenshots and the SnapMyScreen new tab page informs you that you need to install a desktop app. What remains is the extension redirecting you to its preferred search providers which make more money the more users they have.
SnapMyScreen is a potentially unwanted application that doesn’t effectively do what it’s supposed to but gets way too much access to your private information. It’s adware and should be deleted:

About SnapMyScreen
SnapMyScreen was developed by Mindspark Interactive Network. You may have heard about this company already if you had to deal with PremierDownloadManager Toolbar, MySearch or similar adware programs. SnapMyScreen is also classified as adware as it uses unfair methods to infiltrate and its main goal is related to promoting ads.
The program is compatible with Chrome, Internet Explorer, and other browsers that support extensions. Normally, you will see the SnapMyScreen new tab page if your browser is hijacked and, in the middle of that page, there is a search bar that opens MyWay. The extension tries to change your search provider to search.myway.com or ask.com and it won’t surprise you to learn that SnapMyScreen was developed by the same company that owns Ask and MyWay.
Being a browser extension, SnapMyScreen can monitor what websites you are visiting and what search queries you are making. More than that, it can actually see all the data on every website that you go on (and this includes data like passwords). This is needed for SnapMyScreen to take pictures of your screen, but can very easily be abused to steal private information about you. Only reputable and trustworthy extensions should be given such intrusive permissions.
What data about you SnapMyScreen does collect, it uses for personalized ads. If you read the privacy policy of the extension, you can see that the developers partner with third parties to show you ads all over the internet and tailor them to your interests. They share the information they collect about you to make the ads more effective. By installing SnapMyScreen, all you are doing is helping Mindspark advertise to them. And what do you get in exchange? A hijacked browser.
Distribution Methods of SnapMyScreen
Although SnapMyScreen can be downloaded from its official website, usually it comes bundled to other free software that you can download by yourself from the Internet. Even well-known programs can contain bundles (that usually have some suspicious features), so it is recommended to be more careful when installing any new applications, especially if they are available free of charge. Always choose a Custom installation instead of a Basic one, even if the latter one is described as recommended. This will allow you to see all bundles and you will be able to refuse any unknown programs that are pushed on you. Usually, you will have to deselect some checkboxes next to indications about additional downloads.
Recently, SnapMyScreen went into retirement. However, it’s still on the Chrome Web Store and can be downloaded from there. Some applications that bundle it are likely still floating around the web, so be vigilant.
To remove SnapMyScreen automatically, use a reputable antispyware program. This is the easiest way to get rid of this adware without risking to uninstall any other components that are necessary for a regular computer’s performance. To remove SnapMyScreen manually, remove everything related to this adware from Control Panel and restore the settings of the browsers that got infected. Follow the guide below to learn how to do it step by step.
On behalf of developers of SnapMyScreen we were asked to remove this article due to false information on it. However, we feel like this post is correct and helpful to our readers. SnapMyScreen and other software developed by Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc. can be detected and recognised as viruses or potentially unwanted software by various anti-malware tools. Toolbars developed by Mindspark share same EULA (End User License Agreement) that is mislieding. It claims that this software is not an adware or malware, while there are statements that toolbars might display advertisements from 3rd parties or monetise toolbars in other ways. By definition such software is considered as an adware. All articles posted on www.2-viruses.com regarding products of Mindspark are correct.
Please notice that we are affiliated with several trustworthy anti-malware tools and information about our affiliates can be found in disclosure (see the link at the bottom of this page).
