SpeedFixTool Virus - How to remove

SpeedFixTool is a deceptive program that should be avoided. Though it’s presented as a PC optimizer that can help your computer run better, it’s mainly concerned with scaring you into thinking that your computer is in trouble. SpeedFixTool wants you to believe that only it can rescue your PC from the danger that it’s supposedly in. For this purpose, it pretends that every little harmless unnecessary file is a problem and a potential danger.

The SpeedFixTool program is meant to help make Windows computers run better, faster, and reduce errors. It’s made by FixBliss and can be downloaded on Speedfixtool.com.

Unfortunately, like many PC optimizers, SpeedFixTool is not recommended to use. It is a potentially unwanted program that’s a lot worse than all the usual PUPs. It’s detected by web browsers and antivirus programs. This is the version that I downloaded: Virustotal.com. It’s flagged by 38 antivirus programs, labeled a Deceptor, Unwanted, Malicious, Unsafe, Riskware, and SpeedFix.

This means that to even download SpeedFixTool, you either have to deliberately remove the roadblocks laid out for it while knowing that it’s dangerous, or there might be something wrong with your cybersecurity. If nothing – not your browser and not your antivirus software – warned you, then it’s time to improve your security.

This isn’t the same situation as with PC HelpSoft Driver Updater or BoostSpeed. SpeedFixTool is a lot more infamous and much more firmy in the malware category.

A deceptive program

You can download SpeedFixTool from its home page, Speedfixtool.com. This page promotes SpeedFixTool by claiming that “Your computer is designed to fail” and that SpeedFixTool can make it run better than it did when it was new. Even that SpeedFixTool can save hundreds of dollars in repair costs.

That’s some dishonest marketing. Installing an optimizer that just deleting unnecessary files is unlikely to improve the performance of your computer. If your PC is laggy and slow, the solution is to delete and remove programs, not to install more.

Personally, I’d recommend resetting your PC (Support.microsoft.com). It’s free and it doesn’t take more than a few hours. And it does a better job of cleaning your PC than SpeedFixTool or any other cleaner. Sure, you’ll need to reinstall your programs, but that also helps you get rid of unnecessary software that might be unnecessary.

Once SpeedFixTool is installed, it scans your computer and finds hundreds or even thousands of “issues”. These include temporary files, cache files, logs, and registry entries. Harmless items that barely take up any space on your PC, and yet SpeedFixTool declares that your computer is in “DANGER” if you don’t “clean” them. As if a few more free Megabytes on your drive will have an impact on the performance of your PC.

SpeedFixTool also says that if you don’t register the program, “your computer performance may degrade”. In other words, SpeedFixTool tries to scare you into buying its full version. Programs like that are called Scareware.

How to remove SpeedFixTool

You can uninstall it manually. If you use Windows 7, then go to your Control Panel just as described below. If you’re on Windows 10, then you can also use your Setting, Apps & features to remove it.

If you can’t remove SpeedFixTool manually (I certainly had trouble getting it to uninstall), you can use an antivirus app to get rid of it.

Unwanted and malicious programs often spread in groups. So, In addition to removing SpeedFixTool, it’s recommended to also scan your computer with an antivirus program. Scan your computer with a trusted antivirus tool that can recognize PUPs (potentially unwanted programs. We recommend Spyhunter. If the scan reveals that there’s some suspicious software installed on your PC, you might want to remove it.

How to remove SpeedFixTool Virus using Windows Control Panel

Many hijackers and adware like SpeedFixTool Virus install some of their components as regular Windows programs as well as additional software. This part of malware can be uninstalled from the Control Panel. To access it, do the following.

• Start→Control Panel (older Windows) or press Windows Key→Search and enter Control Panel and then press Enter (Windows 8, Windows 10).
• Choose Uninstall Program (if you don't see it, click in the upper right next to "View by" and select Category).
• Go through the list of programs and select entries related to SpeedFixTool Virus . You can click on "Name" or "Installed On" to reorder your programs and make SpeedFixTool Virus easier to find.
• Click the Uninstall button. If you're asked if you really want to remove the program, click Yes.
• In many cases anti-malware programs are better at detecting related parasites, thus I recommend installing Spyhunter to identify other programs that might be a part of this infection.
