Stream It says that it uses Dar.fm to deliver the music. Honestly, there’s no shortage of free music streaming services that don’t hijack your browser and they have a better selection and better user interface than Stream It.

Unwanted Installation

Stream It is advertised on sites that just don’t seem to care about how unsafe the ads they show are, including adult video sites and browser gaming sites. Any site that includes downloading files or playing videos is good for Stream It.

That’s because Stream It is promoted with the help of the Download Ready template. On Install.streamit-online.com, there are pages with the words “Download Ready” and a Download button. This ad for Stream It appears unexpectedly, often after you click on the Download or Play button on the site that you were on previously. The disorienting pop-up aims to trick you into clicking its Download button out of inertia, without reading the fine print.

The small text on these ads reveals that Stream It is being advertised (presented as StreamIt.Online), but if you’re in a hurry, it’s very easy to miss and accidentally let Stream It to be installed. It’s what Chrome’s developers call deceptive installation tactics.

Sometimes, extensions like Stream It come bundled with various free programs that you can download from the internet and don’t even ask if you want to install them – they just appear. Or they ask in the setup (while you’re installing the program), but tuck away the info in walls of text to try and make you miss it. It’s not user friendly at all and it can lead to you unintentionally letting some junkware to be installed on your machine. How to Remove Stream It
