Streamliveradiotab, or Stream Live Radio, is a browser extension that offers to help you find online radio and music streaming more easily – but that is actually a browser hijacker. Streamliveradiotab takes access to some browser settings that have nothing to do with finding radio stations or streaming music. It just interferes with your internet searches to make some money off of search engine advertising. And Streamliveradiotab’s features are really not good enough to justify it being monetized in such an intrusive way.

Problems with Streamliveradiotab
Streamliveradiotab promises to help you get access to online radio, music streaming, and podcasts. It does this by replacing your web browser’s home page and your new tab page with Streamliveradiotab.com. This new tab page is very simple and basic: it has a search bar in the middle of the screen (that opens Yahoo.com) and, at the top, a few links to streaming sites: SoundCloud, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, etc.
The thing is, Streamliveradiotab doesn’t need to exist. You can add streaming sites to your bookmarks and reach them with one click from anywhere in your browser. And you can find a lot more information on online streaming on any random article on the subject (here's one from Ubergizmo).
On its own, Streamliveradiotab does zero streaming and provides no useful information on it. It is a horrible tool that is totally unhelpful for a beginner. It doesn’t tell you which streaming sites are free, which work well on mobile, which have the best selection, etc. Streamliveradio.com preys on inexperienced web users and tricks them into installing Streamliveradiotab which hijacks their browser:
- Streamliveradiotab controls your new tab page (the default webpage in your browser),
- it can read your browsing history, all the other extensions which you have installed, and your search terms,
- Streamliveradiotab.com and Streamliveradio.com try to send you notification pop-ups.
This allows Streamliveradiotab to influence how you search the internet for information. It opens Yahoo.com even if you never used Yahoo before. And it logs your browsing and search history, which helps advertisers offer you relevant ads (as it says in Streamliveradiotab’s privacy policy). Advertising is the real reason that Streamliveradiotab exists. The promise of helping you stream music was just bait.
How to remove Streamliveradiotab
There are a few steps to removing Streamliveradiotab from your browser:
- Streamliveradio.com and Streamliveradiotab.com ask to send you notifications, so if you are getting pop-ups, you can block them,
- Streamliveradiotab needs to be removed to get rid of its new tab,
- scan your computer and remove malware if any is found.
Blocking unwanted notification pop-ups is pretty simple, just open the settings in
- Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
- New Edge – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Firefox – open Settings, Preferences, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.
You can remove Streamliveradiotab from your browser by right-clicking its icon and choosing the “Remove” option. Or you can follow the guide below this article, which has instructions for a few different browsers.
But it’s important to check your other extensions. Streamliveradiotab is made by Eightpoint Technologies, and it’s common for its extensions to be bundled in twos or threes – all hijackers (History Hide, Game Finder Pro, World Events Today, etc.). So, check what extensions you have in your browser besides Streamliveradiotab and remove anything suspicious.
Scan your computer with an antivirus too, like Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, or another program that you feel comfortable using. The scan results would tell you if there are potentially unwanted and low-reputation programs installed on your device that might be causing some issues: stealthy adware, deceptive optimizers, etc. In most cases, it’s best to remove potentially unwanted programs.
Hijackers like Streamliveradiotab tend to be promoted by other adware viruses, so that’s why I’m saying that you may want to check your computer. Adware viruses can be stealthy, only injecting a few ads here and there in your browser. But they undeniably have a negative effect on your privacy and even your security. Adware ads can include
