About TakeShop adware
Even though it’s described as useful application that will help you to save both your time and money when shopping online by providing you with various deals, coupons and commercial offers, this is not true. This app won’t save your time nor money.
All those coupons and deals are displayed in very annoying form of web advertisements. They can come in all kinds of forms, including pop-up, pop-under, in-text, banner or contextual advertisements. New tab or window can be opened on your web browser as well. Those advertisements usually appear on e-commerce websites, such as eBay or Amazon and offer you to purchase some particular goods or services at better price rate. Those offers might look really appealing, but don’t fall for that trick – usually they are fake. They try to win your attention and make you click on one of those advertisements. And we don’t recommend you to do that, because if you do so, you will be immediately redirected to other websites that may be owned by cyber criminals, such as hackers and scammers. This way your computer can get infected or in case you attempt to purchase something there you can even get scammed and lose your hard earned money.
It works as a browser add-on that can be added to all most common web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and even Safari. TakeShop is like advertising network for cyber criminals. As you know, they are banned from all legitimate advertising networks so they use adware like this to drive some traffic to their websites this way. This being said, if you have TakeShop installed on your computer, scammers and hackers can reach you right on your web browser and that’s really dangerous.
Another unwanted attribute of TakeShop is data collection. Once installed it will collect various information about your browsing habits, such as you browsing history, search queries, top visited sites or even your IP and email addresses. They use this information to adjust those advertisements according to it, so they look even more relevant and attractive to you this way and chances that you will click on one of them rise. And that’s the main goal of TakeShop because they get paid for every click you make.
Distribution Methods of TakeShop adware
It travels bundled with other free applications, such as various media players or PDF generators. I.e. when you download and install some free app from unreliable website, there is a chance that TakeShop will be installed alongside without you even being aware of that. To avoid this happening, you should pay close attention to installation process.
Never skip any steps and always opt out for a custom or advanced install mode if possible. This will allow you to see all available options and make changes. Reading all terms and conditions would be considered wise as well. Don’t rush, because some of the most important information can be displayed in a very tiny font and you don’t want to overlook it. If you notice that some additional software that you are not aware of is being installed alongside – don’t allow this to happen because it can possibly be TakeShop or any other unwanted application.
