However, Tvnowapptab.com, or simply TV Now, is actually an ad-supported browser hijacker. It gets installed via deceptive advertising or even without your permission. It changes your new tab page and reads your browsing history. And its online television functionality is laughable.

How Tvnowapptab.com spreads

Tvnowapptab.com gets distributed with some free programs online using bundling. Basically, you download a single free program, but when the installation is finished, you find a few new applications on your computer. Of course, TV Now is mentioned somewhere in the installation, but we shouldn’t be expected to read all the fine print and every line of the user agreement. Warnings about bundled software should be obvious and clear.

It’s common to find TV Now online while searching for various TV channels for free. While searching, people find sites like Tvfree.cc. These sites say:

You’d be forgiven for thinking that these sites are offering a service or a program for accessing television to your computer. But they just lead to TV Now, which has none of that functionality.

TV Now is also advertised online a lot. The ads appear on file-hosting sites (the ones where you download converted songs and pirated programs from), on adult video sites, on free streaming websites, etc. Adware infections show these ads, too. Tvnowapp.net is the site being advertised. This is the same site that Tvfree.cc and similar sites lead to. From it, you can install Tvnowapptab.com.

Functionality

Tvnowapptab.com has no useful functionality for you if you’re looking for a way to watch television on your computer. Sure, it has links to Hulu, Netflix, ESPN, and some other sites. But that is it. This list of streaming websites is not comprehensive, and each of these sites has its own system. TV Now doesn’t do anything for you.

If you installed Tvnowapptab.com with no delusions about what it can do, then you weren’t cheated. But some people were tricked by the advertising and thought that they were about to get the application to access television online. That’s a problem.

Browser hijacking

Tvnowapptab.com replaces your new tab page on which it pushes its own search engine. It reads your browsing history and sees what other extensions you have installed. These things have nothing to do with online television access. But they do help Eightpoint/Polarity, the company that made TC Now, made money from advertising to you in your search results. And reading your browsing history helps them know which ads will be effective on you.

It’s a problem that TV Now makes these totally unnecessary changes to your browser. They always find a way to advertise to you, whether it’s by controlling your new tab page, changing your default search engine, or controlling everything on any website that you visit. You can automatically get rid of TV Now by scanning your computer with an anti-malware application that detects potentially unwanted programs (like SpyHunter for Windows or Combo Cleaner for Mac OS). But though this is helpful (if your computer is infected with some adware, a scan will reveal that), this is not necessary. How to remove TV Now (tvnowapptab) using Windows Control Panel

Many hijackers and adware like TV Now (tvnowapptab) install some of their components as regular Windows programs as well as additional software. This part of malware can be uninstalled from the Control Panel. To access it, do the following.

• Start→Control Panel (older Windows) or press Windows Key→Search and enter Control Panel and then press Enter (Windows 8, Windows 10).
• Choose Uninstall Program (if you don't see it, click in the upper right next to "View by" and select Category).
• Go through the list of programs and select entries related to TV Now (tvnowapptab) . You can click on "Name" or "Installed On" to reorder your programs and make TV Now (tvnowapptab) easier to find.
• Click the Uninstall button. If you're asked if you really want to remove the program, click Yes.
