TVGenie - How to remove

TVGenie is an adware program that causes tons of ads displayed on your computer while you are visiting popular websites, like Youtube, Amazon, eBay and others. The program can get installed to any system when you are downloading some free programs from the Internet, like video players and other programs. It is one of the most common ways to distribute unknown applications, although it is not very fair to do so.

If you want to avoid programs like this one on your system, you should be very attentive and follow the steps of installation of any new program. Usually you are given an option to deselect additional components. If you miss this step, they are all installed automatically. TVGenie can be one of them.

Once the program is inside, you will notice it immediately. You will notice tons of ads with coupons and offers available online. The program can be very annoying as you will see too many unwanted information that disturbs your normal activity. What is more, if you click on these pop ups, you can be redirected to unknown websites where your system can even get infected.

Beware, that TVGenie is also used to collect information about your browsing activities and it violates your privacy this way. This data can be later used for marketing purposes and you may experience even more inconveniences related to receiving various advertisements. It is recommended to remove TVGenie from your system if you want to avoid any security related issues. Although it’s not a malware it is better to eliminate it from your system.

Follow the instructions below to get rid of TVGenie adware:

1. Scan your computer using antimalware program that removes adware and browser hijackers. We recommend using Spyhunter.
2. Go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove Programs -> Check if there are any unfamiliar applications related to TVGenie. If you see any, remove them. It is also recommended to remove any other applications installed on the same day.
3. Remove the toolbar from all of Internet browsers:
   • For Internet Explorer: Go to “Tools” (or gear icon in Internet Explorer 9), -> “Manage Add-ons”. Look for TVGenie and disable it.
   • For Google Chrome: Click on the wrench or bars icon on the top right of the screen; go to “Tools”-> “Extensions”. If you see any extensions related to TVGenie, click on a trash can icon next to them.
   • For Mozilla Firefox: Go to “Tools” -> “Add-ons” -> “Extensions”. If you see any extensions related to TVGenie, disable them.
4. Check if your home page and default search engine are changed to the one you always used. If you see any unfamiliar address, replace it with your own, e.g. google.com.
