Ultimate Scan is a scam antivirus from braviax family. These rogues are known at using multiple names without changing design much, thus there are more than single version of rogues active. Ultimate Scan infects user PC using trojans downloaded or planted through infected websites, faked freeware software or codecs. Quite often it is hard to tell which site or download caused the infection, but it is good idea to avoid various codecs and flash players from all sites except very well known ones.
Once your PC infected, Ultimate Scan will try to stop normal operation of your PC to force you into believing that you have problems. First, it will show various popups and alerts about infections. Secondly, it might hide or rename various files thus forcing user into believing that the problem is much worse than it is. To remove Ultimate Scan we recommend this procedure:
First, try rebooting your PC in safe mode with networking, and change system time to 6 or 7 days ahead. Some of the trojans used by Ultimate Scan parasite family has a switch to turn off the malware after specific time. Reboot your PC.
If this fails, you will have to remove Ultimate Scan files and processes manually, or fake register the malware by using keys. One can try to use keys provided for older version of multi-name rogue.
Ultimate Scan Manual removal:
First, we recommend performing these instructions in safe mode with networking. You might also need separate, uninfected PC to download programs to USB drive in case you won’t be able to restore internet connection which might be blocked by Ultimate Scan malware.
In safe mode with networking, launch task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and kill processes that are named by 3letters or completely randomly. It is easier to use Process Explorer for this task ( https://www.2-viruses.com/wp-content/uploads/PE/eXplorer.exe ). Kill all processes from Application Data or App Data, TEMP subfolders. Once you killed right application Ultimate Scan window will be closed. You can delete that file, or rename them for safety.
To be able to browse, you might have to launch browser in anonymous browsing mode. This will not pass information through malware process. On IE, open new tab and choose InPrivate Browsing.
Next, download anti-malware programs like spyhunter or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. You should update programs prior scan. You will have to scan your PC for remaining Ultimate Scan trojans that might re-download main executable at any time in the future. Delete all the files it finds.
Lastly, make sure your registry is OK prior rebooting your PC. Ultimate Scan might mess up ones registry and some keys might be corrupt.
