Unfriend Check - How to remove

Unfriend Check is an adware program that claims to be able to improve your Facebook account. The truth is the program is seeking to display various advertisements on the infected system and redirect users to some sponsored websites and increase their traffic this way. Although Unfriend Check is not considered to be a virus it poses risk to your computer to be badly infected and for this reason it is categorized as a potentially unwanted program.

You should be aware that the program can install additional programs, like rootkits or other hijackers that can badly affect your system. Unfriend Check can also track the information about your browsing habits and send it to the remote server. As you know, this can violate your privacy and bring other unwanted actions.

As already mentioned before, Unfriend Check adware infiltrates into computers bundled with free software. In fact, you can try to avoid such application only if you be a little bit more careful with your downloads. Make sure you go for Custom installation. Follow each step of the installation and make sure you deselect any options to install unknown programs to your computer.

Remove Unfriend Check once you detect it on your system. In order to do that, go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome and remove it from there. If you do not see Unfriend Check listed, you should use antimalware tools like Spyhunter and scan your computer with it. If you had redirecting issues, you might need to reset your home page and search engine to the one you used before:

On Internet explorer:

1. Click arrow on the right of search box;
2. Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search providers, on ie7 click change search defaults;
3. Remove Unfriend Check from the list.

On Firefox :

1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page;
2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
5. Search for ‘browser.newtab.url’. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar;
2. Select Settings;
3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines;
4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list;
5. Go back to settings. On Startup choose open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).

Please note, it is very important to scan your computer with a reliable antimalware program after Unfriend Check is removed as it might be your system got infected with viruses while having it.
