Does Video-privacy.com briefly appear in your browser’s address bar when you search for something? If yes, then you may have the Always Incognito extension installed.
Video-privacy.com promotes the Always Incognito browser extension. With the help of this extension, Video-privacy.com collects data about each user – their location, interests, and technical data bout their device. Video-privacy.com uses this data to be able to display personalized ads.
Video-privacy.com combines data from third parties and uses it to deliver personalized ads to each user. It can share data that it’s gathered with third parties, too.
It might seem a little strange that such an intrusive site comes with an extension called Always Incognito – an extension that promises to help you “secure your privacy”. But that’s how it is.
How Video-privacy.com and Always Incognito work
Deleting the browsing history
Always Incognito is described on the Chrome Web Store as a tool that helps you protect your privacy by automatically deleting your browsing history as you close the browser.
It seems important to note that this only helps you if you share the same computer and browser with other people. Your internet service provider and the sites you visit can still see what you are doing.
But Always Incognito does delete your browsing history, which is good. The problem is all the privacy violations done in the background.
Reading search terms
Always Incognito observes your Google searches. It reads the query that you typed in, then sends it to Video-privacy.com. As far as I can tell, it only does this on Google.com and only when you installed Always Incognito after being referred by an ad.
Knowing that Video-privacy.com collects so much data, it’s not surprising that Always Incognito does this. But it’s terrible for your privacy!
Access to all the webpages
And here’s another detail – When Always Incognito is installed, it asks to access your data on all the sites that you visit. This is excessive – it could read everything you type on every webpage, including personal messages and even passwords. Always Incognito doesn’t even need this access. I disabled it in Google Chrome’s extension settings and it continued to delete history just fine.
It must be for Video-privacy.com that it needs to access all the sites that you visit. So that Video-privacy.com can receive your search terms and display ads.
Video-privacy.com’s privacy policy talked about its advertising, but I did not notice Always Incognito injecting any ads into my browser. It may be that Video-privacy.com is some kind of a tracking and advertising company that collaborates with various advertisers and publishers. But the fact remains that Always Incognito is able to see and change the data on all the websites that are opened.
In many ways, Video-privacy.com reminds me of Historyorganizer.xyz, Shopping-friend.xyz, and other sites. They promise a useful utility to get you to install their extensions, then they mess with your searches.

Alternatives
You could use the real Incognito mode, also called Private window, to keep your browsing history from being seen by others. It’s available from the main menu of the browser. It’s more powerful than the Always Incognito extension, though it is not perfect at protecting your privacy. You might need something like the Tor browser for better anonimity.
I recommend removing Always Incognito and using a more trustworthy extension. Look for one that doesn’t seem to be commercial. If it doesn’t need to make money, then it probably isn’t selling your data.
You can also delete history entries manually. Just open the History page (Ctrl+H on Windows, Cmd+Y on macOS), select the entries that you want removed, and delete them. You can search for a specific site, select one entry, then select all with the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+A on Windows, Cmd+A on macOS). There are lots of options.
Removing Video-privacy.com
You can uninstall unwanted extensions from browser settings or from the extension area in the upper right. Either way, check all the extensions, not just Always Incognito. If you find some that you didn’t install yourself, remove them.
You can also use an anti-malware program, such as Combo Cleaner for macOS, Spyhunter for Windows, and others to check your computer for malware. Video-privacy.com is not malware and neither is Always Incognito, however, they’re adware and thus malware-adjacent. Adware and malware tend to not be too far from each other.
